Last updated: July 27, 2026\.

This doc owns: the unified twelve-tier Hermetic mastery framework as it applies to the ability tree; the eight-element architecture (five vril-seat-based plus three trade-unlocked); the per-element ability catalog with twelve-tier unlock thresholds, integrity-band locks, vril cost class, and unlock-event prerequisites; the vril-seat architecture and Enhanced Ability Mastery overlay logic; the combo element matrix; biography influence on abilities; specialization architecture and replayability framework; the six-attribute progression with maintenance and decay mechanics; the canonical Mobility, Environmental Manipulation, Ambient Passive, and Physics-Driven Ability Interactions framework introduced at v1.1.1; the two-lane ability progression bonus system with its selectable per-tier bonus pools, rarity ladder, and spec purposes; and the ability-scope build-role architecture the balance sweeps measure against.

This doc does not own: vril physics or recharge-source mechanics (T1\_Vril\_and\_Magic\_System\_Master); per-trade home base assignments, twelve-tier quest gates, or per-trade bonus pools (T1\_Trades\_Master); weapon proficiency mechanics, per-weapon technique unlocks, per-weapon bonus pools, or the gear-imprint rune lane (T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec); integrity score-band mechanics, the three-path framework, companion and familiar stat spreads, the ally-intelligence AI axis, or loyalty consequences (T1\_Integrity\_Paths\_Worldstates\_Master); Tier C group and raid role architecture (T1\_Tier\_C\_MMO\_Spec); per-language inscription progression (T1\_Languages\_and\_Script\_Master); per-chapter ability acquisition beats (T2 ChapterDesign briefs and T1\_Story\_Spine cascade); per-questline detailed content (T5 trade and SQ docs).

§0. Doc Lifecycle and Authority Scope

Tier 1 Foundation. Always-loaded by every Claude Project. Promoted from Tier 7 to Tier 1 in the Phase 5 Restructure per the canonical authority hierarchy in T1\_Architecture\_and\_State. The promotion reflects the ability tree's cross-cutting role across pipeline contracts — UE5 §1, Cinematic §5, Quest Writing §6 all consume ability\_tree references at canonical scope.

Drive placement: /Humanity/01-Foundation/T1\_Ability\_Tree.

Estimated stable size: 50 to 70 pages at v1.1 catalog expansion. Update cadence: refines with cascade-surfaced ability content during Phase 6 Spine and Phase 7 Book Processing; settles to monthly cadence post-Phase 8\.

This v1.0 absorbs T1\_GDD\_Systems §8 Mastery System Architecture and supersedes the pre-restructure Tier 7.4 Ability\_Tree document. Framework lock at v1.0 covers the twelve-tier Hermetic mastery framework, the Mastery Point talent allocation economy, the device-bonding architecture with progressive acquisition across the canonical chapter beats, and the dual respec mechanic. Catalog expansion to 220-260 abilities with EAM-expression annotations defers to v1.1 at Session 5G-3.

The v1.1.1 framework lock at Phase 5G-4-A introduces canonical Mobility (§5D), Environmental Manipulation (§5E), Ambient Passive (§5F), and Physics-Driven Ability Interactions (§5G) framework sections. These sections establish the canonical substrate of emergent gameplay across the canonical campaign and forward into Tier C MMO content. Catalog refactor for Layer B combos and new ability authoring for Earth, Ice, Air, Fire mobility and environmental manipulation defer to Phase 5G-4-B and 5G-4-C subsequent sessions.

§1. Authority and Cross-References

Authority hierarchy per T1\_Architecture\_and\_State.

Cross-doc reconciliation discipline: where this doc references mastery thresholds, integrity bands, vril costs, or trade gates, the cited authoritative doc wins on conflict. This doc surfaces the cross-cutting ability layer; the domain docs own the underlying canon.

§2. Twelve-Tier Hermetic Mastery Framework

Per CVD §12.1, every developable capability in the game progresses on a single twelve-tier Hermetic mastery framework. The framework draws from documented Western mystery tradition — Hermetic Golden Dawn lineage, anchored at Ch 27 canonical content. Layer 2 depth players recognize the Golden Dawn system. Layer 1 surface players experience clean progression milestones.

The ten accessible tiers across the canonical numerical scale.

First Order Outer Tiers covering numerical 1-99 development.

Second Order Inner Tiers covering numerical 100-199 mastery.

Third Order Prestige Tiers covering numerical 200 plus MMO endgame.

The twelve-tier framework applies uniformly across every developable capability. Trade 4 Herbalism reaches Adeptus Minor the same way Earth-element ability mastery reaches Adeptus Minor — same ceremony, same substrate-state shift, same canonical Pillar 12 three-layer recognition. Combat reaches Magister Templi the same way inscription reaches Magister Templi — Tier A completion plus prestige questline specific to the capability.

The hard line: every tier requires a canonical quest-unlock event, not numerical threshold alone. A player whose Mining numerical reaches 100 without completing the Mining Adeptus Minor questline is gated at numerical 99 ceiling for Mining-derived abilities until the questline completes.

One index runs on the framework per CVD §12.1: the LEVEL index, levels 1 through 12. A level is both a rung the practitioner stands on and a questline crossing the practitioner makes, because CVD §17.5 quest-gates every one of them. The ten canonical names enumerated above are GRADES banded over those levels per the ratified band mapping (GRADE\_BAND\_MAPPING\_2026-07-28, Josh YES) — the grades map one-to-one onto levels 1 through 6, Adeptus Major bands levels 7 and 8, Adeptus Exemptus bands levels 9 and 10, Magister Templi is level 11, and Magus is level 12. The grade name plus its grade index (1-10) stays the player-facing surface, and grade index agrees with level at or below Adeptus Minor; the level index is the internal key every consumer reads. The two Hermetic ceremonies ride inside their crossings rather than holding index slots of their own — the Portal Grade wisdom-test is level 5's own gate, the Outer Order completion beat that Inner Order initiation requires, and the Crossing of the Abyss rides the level 10 to level 11 crossing; T0\_Trade\_Registry carries both as ceremony quest refs (Q\_TRn\_PRT and Q\_TRn\_BAB) outside the level slots per T1\_Trades\_Master §4.2 plus §4.4.

The discriminator load-bearing for §5H is the pair each level pays rather than a second index. Minor picks ride the LEVELS and draw from Lane A; major picks ride the LEVEL GATES and draw from Lane B; and because every level is quest-gated, every level of every capability confers both — twelve minor picks and twelve major picks per developable capability, 24 in all, with the solo-reachable count at 22 because level 12 Magus is Tier C MMO endgame only. The level index is enumerated in full only where the 120-questline roster lives — twelve level gates multiplied by ten trades, owned by T1\_Trades\_Master. Abilities cross the same twelve level gates per capability without adding to that roster count.

One tier key, three consumers. A capability's current tier drives Mastery Point grants per §5A, bonus-pool grants per §5H plus §5I, and the presentation variant an ability renders at per the mastery presentation ladder (docs/COMBAT_PROGRAM_ADDENDUM.md §5). All three read the same tier state; none re-derives it. The mastery ladder is the single source of progression truth across mechanics, economy, and presentation.

§3. Capabilities on the Unified Mastery Framework

The twelve-tier framework applies to every developable capability. The full roster.

A single playthrough cannot reach Adeptus Minor in every capability. Forced specialization is canonical design. The v1.4 catalog comprises approximately 185 distinct abilities at canonical Phase 5G-4-D-3 Final Lock — 111 Layer A single-element abilities across the eight elements (Earth nineteen, Water twenty including Ice sub-form, Fire twenty, Air twenty, Ether-Throat twelve, Ether-Third Eye nine, Ether-Crown eleven), twenty-six Layer C trade-element abilities (Lightning eight, Poison nine, Vegetation nine), and forty-eight Layer B combo-tier expressions (six base-pair combos at three tiers, twelve vril-seat-trade combos at two tiers, three trade-trade combos at two tiers). A single playthrough masters approximately forty to sixty abilities — roughly one third of the v1.4 catalog. Forced specialization is canonical design. T6 Adeptus Minor passives, L3 Drifting parity expansion, and trade-element catalog expansion (the remaining v1.1 catalog expansion content) defer to Phase 5G-4-D-2 and 5G-4-D-3 mini-sessions per the T99\_5G\_4\_D\_Path\_Y\_Completion\_Guide structured arc; if surfaced as needed during cascade-era spine work or book processing, the deferred expansion authors at the appropriate mini-session.

§4. The Six Attributes

Six attributes track physical and cognitive capability. Each runs on the twelve-tier framework numerical scale.

Composite Combat Level derives from a weighted sum across all six attributes. The composite metric drives MMO matchmaking and certain faction-gating thresholds.

Each attribute progresses on the unified twelve-tier scale. Numerical 1-99 development, Adeptus Minor 100 single-tier breakpoint, Adeptus Major 101-150, Adeptus Exemptus 151-199, Magister Templi 200, Magus Tier C MMO endgame only.

§5. Development Tier Detail and Experience Curves

The Outer Order numerical 1-99 range maps to four progression bands.

Numerical 100 Adeptus Minor cannot be achieved through experience accumulation. The Adept-initiation questline canonical to the capability is required. A player whose Mining numerical reaches 99 with all the experience in the world cannot reach Adeptus Minor without completing the Mining Adept-initiation questline. Knowledge and experience must combine.

Numerical 100-199 Inner Order progression requires per-fifty-numerical-tier extended-mastery questlines. Numerical 101-125 anchors a mid-Adept questline event; 126-150 a senior-Adept questline event; 151-175 and 176-199 anchor sequential mastery-integration questline events at Adeptus Exemptus depth.

Numerical 200 Magister Templi requires the capability-specific post-Ch 77 prestige questline. Magus Tier 10 requires Tier C MMO collective-action engagement plus the cross-server prestige path.

§6. Maintenance and Decay Mechanics

Physical capabilities reflect biological maintenance requirements. Knowledge-based capabilities do not decay. Decay behavior varies by capability class.

Decaying without maintenance: Strength (muscle mass fades), Dexterity (fine motor skill erodes), Constitution (cardiovascular fitness fades), Agility (reflexes fade).

Minor decay only: Accuracy (muscle memory degrades slightly).

No decay: Intelligence (knowledge retention is stable), Trade skills (knowledge-based; once learned, retained), Vril abilities (internal capacity once developed is stable), Intuition (consciousness-based), Astral Projection (consciousness-based), Inscription (knowledge-based), Familiar bond (relationship-based), Language fluency (knowledge-based with minor active-use friction).

Weapon proficiency carries minor rust only — a slight decrease that returns quickly with use.

Decay rates. Physical attributes decay at one percent per in-game week without training. Mitigations: a single training session per in-game week keeps stats stable; active lifestyle counts as passive training (combat encounters, traversal during chapter progression, trade work during compound activity); camp life counts as passive maintenance when the player rests at trade compound infrastructure.

Return rate. When resuming training after decay, gains return at twice the baseline rate. The player never fully loses progress — regain is faster than new gain.

Floor. Decay stops at numerical 70 of whatever level was previously achieved. A Magister Templi athlete who stops training bottoms at numerical 70, not at numerical 1\. Adeptus Minor and higher tiers are stable against decay below the Magister Templi prestige threshold; Inner Order tier achievements do not decay.

§5A. Mastery Point Economy and Talent Allocation

Mastery progression operates on two distinct currencies. Numerical experience accumulates per element, trade, weapon proficiency, and other developable capability through play — un-respec-able, just earned experience that advances the canonical numerical scale per CVD §12.1. Mastery Points are a discretionary spend currency granted at each tier-up that the player allocates to specific abilities to make those abilities operationally available. Mastery Point allocations are respec-able per §5B; numerical experience is not.

The Mastery Point grant schedule per developable capability is keyed on the GRADE bands of §2 rather than on the twelve levels. A capability's Mastery Points are granted at band entry — the level at which the capability first enters that grade — and the ten rows below are those ten band entries.

Band entry is the grant event. Adeptus Major grants at level 7 and Adeptus Exemptus at level 9, the levels at which a capability enters each banded grade, so levels 8 and 10 — the second level of each banded grade — carry no scheduled Mastery Point row. Those two levels stay full levels in every other respect: each grants its minor pick and its major pick per §5H plus §5I exactly as the other ten do. The absence of a Mastery Point row at levels 8 and 10 is the schedule's deliberate shape rather than an omission for a later pass to fill.

Total Mastery Points across full Outer-and-Inner-Order progression for one capability: 24 points (1+1+2+2+3+5+5+5). Magister Templi prestige adds 10 more. Magus tier scales through MMO engagement.

Mastery Point cost per ability follows the tier of the ability rather than the element or vril-seat position.

The Outer Order tiers (1-5) operate on discretionary point spend. The Inner Order and Prestige tiers (6-10) operate on questline-gated automatic unlock once the tier-up triggers per CVD §17.5 quest-unlock hard line. This split preserves the canonical "knowledge and experience must combine" framing — Outer Order tiers are where the player makes deliberate practice choices; Inner Order and beyond are where canonical questline completion proves earned mastery.

Per-element economy. Mastery Points are pooled per developable capability — Earth element has its own Mastery Point pool, Fire has its own, Trade 4 Herbalism has its own, each weapon proficiency has its own. Points cannot transfer across capabilities. A player who advances Earth to Tier 5 Philosophus has 9 Mastery Points to allocate within Earth abilities; advancing Air separately yields a separate Air pool.

Strategic implication. With 9 Mastery Points across Outer Order (Tier 1-5 advancements) for one element and approximately 12 Outer Order abilities per element at full Layer A catalog, players cannot fully unlock every Outer Order ability in a single element. Specialization within elements is real. The canonical replayability shape per §14 emerges from these per-element allocation choices compounded across the four base vril-seat elements, three Ether sub-categories, three trade-coupled elements, and ten trades.

Mastery Points and bonus picks are distinct grants, not competing spends. A level-up grants whatever Mastery Points its grade band schedules per the table above, which unlock abilities at the costs above, and separately grants that level's minor and major bonus picks from the §5I pools, which shape abilities the player has already unlocked. The player never trades an ability unlock against a bonus, and a bonus pick never substitutes for the Mastery Point that makes an ability castable. Unlock economy and build-shaping economy answer different questions — what can I cast, and how does what I cast behave — so keeping them separate preserves both the §5A scarcity that forces specialization and the §5I agency that differentiates two players who unlocked the same set. That bonus picks cost no Mastery Points is an applied reading of the ruling rather than a stated term of it, revisitable at the schema pass alongside the items below. Bonus-pick selection state and its respec model defer to the schema pass; §5B.1 Mastery Point Respec continues to govern point reallocation only.

§5B. Respec Mechanics

Two distinct respec operations exist. Mastery Point Respec reallocates Mastery Points within a specific capability without changing the device-bonding architecture. Device Bonding Respec rebonds a player-choice base-element device per §10.4 to a different base-element vril-seat without changing Mastery Point allocations. The two operate independently — a player can Mastery-Point-respec without device-bonding-respec, and vice versa.

§5B.1 Mastery Point Respec

Respec scope. Per-capability. The player selects a single capability — Earth element, Fire element, Trade 4 Herbalism, a specific weapon proficiency — and refunds all Mastery Points spent within that capability. The numerical experience and questline completions in the capability remain. Inner Order and Prestige tier auto-unlocks remain. The player then reallocates the refunded points fresh across the abilities available at the capability's current numerical tier.

Respec location. Trade compound at any home base where the protagonist has reached Adeptus Minor in a relevant body-and-mind transformation trade. Canonical sites: Trade 4 Herbalism Ayurvedic Brahmasthanam at Ch 7 South India, Tamil Siddha kayakalpa rejuvenation site at Ch 7 deeper substrate, Persian alchemy laboratorium at Ch 19, Amazonian shamanic ceremony site at Ch 50 modern home base. Each canonical site is a trade-master NPC plus ritual context — the rebonding ceremony grounds in the canonical trade tradition's body-and-mind reset framing.

Respec cost. Material reagent expense gathered through Herbalism and Alchemy field work — specific reagents per trade-compound site per the trade-canonical recipe. Multi-day in-game ritual time cost — respec advances in-game time meaningfully. Faction-standing implications per the trade-master's canonical alignment with cultural-tradition substrate. No integrity penalty — respec is integrity-neutral by canonical framing.

Free Mastery Point respec at major narrative beats. Post-Ch 38 Azores midpoint completion grants one free per-capability respec. Post-Ch 55 Atacama Vimana activation grants one free per-capability respec. Post-Ch 77 main story completion grants unlimited free respec for the post-game prestige progression. The free respecs at canonical transformation chapters frame the rebondings as part of the protagonist's growth arc.

§5B.2 Device Bonding Respec

Respec scope. Per-device for Devices 2, 4, 6 only — the three player-choice base-element bondings. Devices 1, 3, 5 are forced Ether bondings per §10.3 and cannot be respec'd because they are canonical narrative milestones tied to specific main-story unlocks (Astral Projection, Probability Sight, True Voice — story-gated abilities). The Vimana device (Device 1 of 7 in Vril §3) does not bond to a vril-seat and is not respec-affected.

What it does. Player ritually unbonds Device 2, 4, or 6 from its current base-element vril-seat and rebonds it to a different base-element vril-seat. Numerical experience and Mastery Point allocations in the previously-bonded vril-seat position remain — abilities at the previously-bonded vril-seat now operate at standard 12-tier expression rather than EAM expression. Numerical experience and Mastery Point allocations at the newly-bonded vril-seat position remain whatever the player has developed there — abilities at the newly-bonded vril-seat now operate at EAM expression assuming sufficient numerical mastery has accumulated. EAM polish moves with the device.

Why it still feels like work. EAM expression scales with numerical mastery at the bonded vril-seat position. A player who bonded Device 2 to Earth and developed Earth to numerical 80 Tier 5 Philosophus, then respecs Device 2 from Earth to Air where they have only numerical 12 Tier 2 Zelator, keeps Earth at numerical 80 — Earth abilities still cast at standard 12-tier expression — but the EAM polish moves to Air where the protagonist is barely past Neophyte. To feel the EAM benefit on Air, the player must grind Air numerical mastery up. The respec doesn't shortcut numerical advancement; it shortcuts only the canonical chapter-event acquisition path.

Respec location. Same trade compounds as Mastery Point Respec — Adeptus Minor body-and-mind transformation trade-master sites. The device-bonding ritual is more intensive than the Mastery Point ritual because rebonding an infinite-vital-energy device requires the trade master to engage canonical lineage transmission ceremony at full depth.

Respec cost. Higher than Mastery Point Respec. Material reagent expense plus rare element-specific bonding catalysts gathered through deep questline progression. Extended multi-day to multi-week in-game ritual time cost. Faction-standing implications proportional to the trade-master's canonical alignment with the previous and new vril-seat elements.

Free Device Bonding Respec at canonical transformation chapters. Post-Ch 38 Azores midpoint grants one free Device Bonding Respec. Post-Ch 55 Atacama Vimana activation grants one free Device Bonding Respec. Post-Ch 77 main story completion grants unlimited free Device Bonding Respec for prestige progression experimentation.

Integrity neutrality. Device Bonding Respec is integrity-neutral. The canonical framing is "the protagonist has earned the right to reconfigure their vril-seat-device infusion through demonstrated mastery in body-and-mind transformation traditions." Cultural-substrate grounding ensures the mechanic reads as canonical protagonist-development rather than game-mechanic exploit.

§5C. Combo Proficiency Mechanic

When the player casts a combo ability that combines two contributing elements, both contributing element proficiencies advance per the combo cast. Combo proficiency itself is a derived stat — computed on demand from the two contributing base proficiencies rather than tracked as a separate XP pool.

Combo proficiency formula. For any combo ability combining base elements A and B, the combo proficiency value is 0.5 × proficiency(A) \+ 0.5 × proficiency(B). A player at Earth numerical 60 plus Fire numerical 80 has Magma combo proficiency of 70\. No separate Magma XP pool tracked. The formula recomputes whenever either contributing base proficiency advances.

XP gain on combo cast. Each combo cast advances both contributing base proficiencies at full rate. Casting Magma grants 1.0 Earth XP plus 1.0 Fire XP per cast — combo casting is XP-doubled relative to single-base casting at the same vril cost class. The doubled XP rate rewards the higher vril cost combos require, the dual-base prerequisite gating, and the canonical synergy-specialization identity. Combo specialists progress both contributing elements faster than single-base specialists progress one element.

Mastery Point cost for combo abilities. Combo abilities cost Mastery Points from both contributing base pools simultaneously per §5A per-element MP economy. A Tier 3 Theoricus combo ability costs 2 Mastery Points from base A pool plus 2 Mastery Points from base B pool — total 4 Mastery Points across both pools. The player can only unlock the combo if Mastery Points are available in both bases at the required tier-cost.

Strategic implication. A player who wants both Magma (Earth+Fire combo) and Steam (Fire+Water combo) must have Mastery Point investment in three base pools — Earth, Fire, and Water. Specialization tradeoff is real and visible at Mastery Point allocation level. Combo specialists necessarily develop more bases at moderate depth rather than one base at extreme depth.

Tier prerequisites for combo abilities. Combo abilities have unlock thresholds expressed as required tier on each contributing base. A Tier 3 Theoricus combo requires both contributing bases at Tier 3 Theoricus numerical mastery or higher. A Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced combo requires both bases at Tier 5 Philosophus or higher. Per CVD §12.1 plus §17.5, the canonical questline-gate for Tier 6 Adeptus Minor and beyond applies to each contributing base independently — both bases must complete their Adeptus Minor canonical questline before the Tier 6 combo expression unlocks.

Combo respec interaction. Mastery Point Respec per §5B.1 operates per-base. Respeccing Earth refunds Earth Mastery Points including those spent on combo abilities, but those combo unlocks remain locked on the Fire side until the player reallocates Mastery Points fresh on Earth side at the corresponding tier-cost. Respec affects only the contributing base's portion of the dual-pool Mastery Point investment.

EAM-pair combo expression per §10.6 Combat Integration. When both contributing vril-seat positions are device-bonded EAM, the combo casts at EAM-pair peak expression — the spectacular peak vril output expression. When one side is bonded EAM and the other contributing vril-seat is at standard twelve-tier progression, the combo casts at EAM-on-standard fallback expression — still functional and visually distinct, one tier short of peak. When neither contributing element is vril-seat-coupled (trade-element-pair combos like Lightning plus Poison), the combo casts at trade-mastery expression only with no EAM-pair tier accessible.

The combo proficiency mechanic applies uniformly across all 21 canonical combos enumerated in §12 Combo Element Matrix and across the Ether-coupled combo extensions per T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Session 5H ratification scope.

§5D. Mobility

Mobility abilities translate the protagonist across terrain at canonical magnitudes that exceed Agility-skill traversal. Mobility class is distinct from offensive, defensive, perception, healing, and environmental manipulation classes — a single ability may carry secondary effects across classes, but its primary class designation drives cooldown discipline, vril cost calibration, and §10.6 Combat Integration EAM tier behavior.

§5D.1 Cast Pattern Taxonomy

Mobility abilities surface across four cast patterns. Each ability in §11 carries a cast\_pattern tag in T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry.

Instant cast pattern. Single trigger, fixed displacement, brief animation lock. Wind Step (Tier 1\) and Astral Step (Tier 6\) carry instant pattern.

Charge-hold cast pattern. Hold-to-charge mechanic with vril consumption proportional to hold duration. Release triggers the displacement at scaled magnitude. Mini Cyclone Lift carries charge-hold pattern at a brief one-second timing window — release at the apex of the charge produces vertical lift; release early produces a muted hop; release late dissipates the cast with vril spent. Skill-and-timing-driven mobility class.

Sustained-drain cast pattern. Active continuous vril consumption while ability is engaged. Player toggles on, vril drains at a sustained rate, ability persists until vril exhausts or player toggles off. Ice Path, Earth Surf, and Fire Jet carry sustained-drain pattern. Drain rate scales by element — Earth at lowest drain class for protracted sustained traversal, Fire at moderate drain class, Ice at moderate drain with surface-state dependency, Air at highest drain class for the briefest of the four.

Channeled cast pattern. Player commits to active channel through animation-lock and ability cannot act on other inputs during channel. Earth Burrow uses channeled-then-emerge — the protagonist sinks into substrate, travels blind by directional input through underground passage, surfaces on player release or at maximum-duration cap. Channel breaks combat-and-cast availability for the channel duration; the trade is silent traversal beneath line-of-sight.

§5D.2 Mobility Class Disciplines

Mobility abilities respect four canonical disciplines that distinguish them from instant-translocation utility.

Direction is player-input-dependent. Earth Burrow, Earth Surf, Fire Jet, Ice Path, Cyclone-class-mobility, Wind Walker — all of these require active player directional input to control trajectory. Player skill at directional control is part of the mastery surface; high-mastery players outperform low-mastery players at the same ability tier through input precision rather than ability tier alone.

Risk pattern is element-coupled. Earth-axis mobility carries collision-with-terrain failure mode. Ice-axis mobility carries surface-state failure mode (Ice Path requires ground that accepts ice formation; tropical and desert terrain reduce cast effectiveness). Fire-axis mobility carries vegetation-ignition collateral (Fire Jet over dry vegetation triggers Wildfire chain per §5G). Air-axis mobility carries fall-damage-on-misjudgment failure mode at vertical lift cast types.

Speed advantage scales with vril cost class. Cheap mobility (Wind Step) outpaces walking by a small margin. Premium mobility (Earth Surf, sustained-drain) outpaces sprinting by canonical magnitude. Ultimate mobility (Astral Step instant translocation) bypasses traversal entirely at extreme vril cost.

Mobility-during-combat is constrained. Most mobility abilities cannot be cast during active enemy melee proximity — the cast triggers attack-of-opportunity vulnerabilities. The exception class is Cyclone Cradle (Tier 7-8 Air ultimate) where the protagonist sits atop a sustained vortex protected from ground-melee proximity and retains cast availability — the canonical single exception to the mobility-suspends-combat-availability rule, available only at Inner Order Air mastery depth.

§5D.3 Mobility Mastery Progression

Mobility abilities scale across the canonical twelve-tier framework with a discipline distinct from offensive abilities. Tier-up at Mobility class typically expands either traversal range or duration rather than damage magnitude.

Outer Order mobility (Tiers 1-5) covers single-burst displacement, sustained-drain mobility with vril-cost-bounded duration, and basic vertical lift. Inner Order mobility (Tier 6 Adeptus Minor and above) introduces canonical-magnitude expressions — Astral Step instant translocation, Cyclone Cradle protected sustained vortex, multi-axis mobility chaining where the protagonist combines two mobility patterns in a single sustained sequence (Fire Jet into Mini Cyclone Lift into Earth Surf at Adeptus Major, for example).

Per-ability damage profiles, traversal speed numerical values, and vertical lift magnitudes defer to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H scope. The §5D framework establishes class discipline; numerical calibration lands at Combat Spec.

§5E. Environmental Manipulation

Environmental Manipulation abilities create persistent physical objects in the world — pillars, walls, paths, fields, terrain — that exist independently of the protagonist and persist after cast completes. This class is distinct from offensive abilities (which damage but leave no construct), mobility abilities (which translate the protagonist), and channeled abilities (which require sustained protagonist engagement). Environmental manipulation creates and walks away.

§5E.1 Charge-Hold Construction Mechanic

Environmental manipulation abilities carry charge-hold cast pattern with three coupled scaling axes. The longer the player holds the cast button, the more vril consumed, the larger the construct produced, and the longer the construct persists before destabilization. These three axes scale together — charge-hold is a single mechanic with three coupled outputs, not three separate dials.

Vril cost per hold-tick scales with element baseline. Earth at lowest cost-per-tick for the canonical longest persistence. Vegetation at moderate cost. Water-as-Ice at moderate cost. Fire constructs at highest cost-per-tick (Fire constructs are also the shortest persistence — Fire wants to spread, not stand still). Air constructs are the briefest — typically not charge-hold class at all, with the exception of Cyclone-fusion forms that persist briefly under sustained protagonist control.

Construct size scales linearly with hold duration up to a per-element cap. Earth Pillar at full charge-hold reaches canonical maximum size of approximately three meters tall and one meter cross-section; partial-charge holds produce reduced-magnitude pillars at proportional vril cost. Stone Wall, Earth Pillar, Ice Wall, Ice Pillar all share this scaling discipline.

Persistence duration scales with hold duration up to per-element persistence cap. Per-element caps at full mastery — Earth one to two minutes, Vegetation roughly one minute, Ice approximately thirty to sixty seconds, Air briefer (one second or less for timing-window casts; up to ten seconds for Cyclone-fusion variants under active control). Lower mastery tiers cap shorter than the per-element ceiling.

§5E.2 Reusability and Compounding Cost

Constructs persist as physical objects in the canonical world while their persistence timer runs. The protagonist may stand on top of constructs (Earth Pillar, Ice Pillar), shelter behind constructs (Stone Wall, Ice Wall), use constructs as line-of-sight blockers, jump from construct to construct (Earth Pillar parkour at Adeptus Minor mastery), and otherwise treat them as terrain.

Reuse mechanic. The protagonist may reinforce or extend a construct by re-casting on the same construct before its destabilization timer expires. Re-cast cost is greater than the original cast cost — the canonical compounding-cost discipline that prevents indefinite construct-persistence loops. First cast at base cost. Second cast (extension) at base cost plus 50%. Third cast at base cost plus 100%. Fourth cast at base cost plus 200%. Compounding cost applies independently per construct; the protagonist may cycle multiple constructs at base cost while reinforcing none beyond practical vril budget.

Destabilization is canonical and visible. Constructs do not vanish abruptly. The final five-to-ten seconds of a construct's persistence carries visible substrate-decay signature — Earth construct cracks and crumbles, Ice construct surface-fractures and weeps, Vegetation construct yellows and droops, Fire construct dims and gutters. Destabilization is signaled to the player and to nearby observers; a construct in destabilization phase is also vulnerable to physics-chain destruction at increased magnitude per §5G.

§5E.3 Combat and Puzzle Applications

Environmental manipulation drives canonical combat and exploration depth across the 77-chapter solo campaign and forward into Tier C MMO content per CVD §17.5 quest-unlock-required canonical authority and the canonical three-tier architecture.

Combat applications. Boss fights gate canonical mid-Outer-Order onward on environmental manipulation as primary engagement vector — bosses with mobility advantages require terrain reshaping to constrain, bosses with line-of-sight ranged attacks require wall and pillar construction to interrupt, bosses with sustained area attacks require burrow-and-resurface to reposition under attack zones. Some boss fights at canonical Inner Order tiers (Cassius Velheim direct-confrontation arcs, Architect-confrontation arcs at Ch 70-73) cannot be completed without environmental manipulation mastery; raw offensive damage will not suffice.

Puzzle applications. Canonical chapter-progression gates and side-quest progression gates surface environmental manipulation as resolution mechanic. Vertical traversal puzzles solve through Earth Pillar plus Ice Pillar plus Mini Cyclone Lift chaining. Cross-water gaps solve through Ice Path or Earth Pillar bridge construction. Burning-vegetation hazards solve through Frost Slide or Freeze Ground conversion-and-pass. Buried-passage exploration gates surface through Earth Burrow at sufficient mastery.

MMO and competitive applications. Tier C MMO content per CVD §13 leverages environmental manipulation as a primary differentiator from base-element offensive play. Capture-the-flag-class objective modes feature canonical environmental-manipulation playstyle — defenders construct fortified positions through Stone Wall plus Earth Pillar combinations; attackers counter through Earth Burrow under-walls plus Earth Wave displacement plus volcano-class Layer B combo terrain reshaping; utility-primary roles in MMO group composition surface through environmental manipulation specialists who construct, maintain, and reshape battlefield terrain rather than primarily damage opponents. The canonical eight-element architecture supports utility-primary role identity at canonical depth.

§5E.4 Persistence Cap by Element

Per-element persistence caps lock at v1.1.1 and inform §11 ability prose plus T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry persistence\_class enum population.

Earth at one to two minutes. Constructs include Stone Wall, Earth Pillar (charge-hold variants of Stone Wall), and Living Stone summoned construct. The longest-persistence element class.

Vegetation at approximately one minute. Constructs include Living Shield, Thornsmen, vegetation summons under Forest Call. Persistence shorter than Earth despite shared organic-substrate; vegetation responds to vril channeling but resists indefinite vril sustainment.

Water as Ice at thirty to sixty seconds. Constructs include Ice Wall, Ice Pillar, Freeze Ground terrain conversion. Per-element persistence reflects substrate-state instability — ice melts back to water under ambient thermal load. Tropical and desert terrain reduce persistence to lower bound; arctic terrain extends to upper bound.

Fire at approximately ten to thirty seconds. Constructs include Ignition Field sustained-burn ground residue, Ember Trail lingering line, ember-trail mobility ground. Fire constructs also propagate to adjacent flammable-tagged objects per §5G physics-chain mechanic.

Air at one to ten seconds. Cyclone construct under active protagonist control persists up to ten seconds; uncontrolled cyclone collapses inside one second. Air is the lowest-persistence environmental manipulation element class — air is the medium for translation (Mobility class) more naturally than the substrate for construction (Environmental Manipulation class).

§5E.5 Construct Properties for Physics-Chain Interaction

Every construct created through Environmental Manipulation carries documented physical properties per §5G Physics-Driven Ability Interactions framework. Properties include mass, structural\_integrity, flammability, thermal\_state, conductivity, and organic\_substrate per the v1.1.1 property taxonomy. Constructs interact with subsequent ability casts — friend or foe — according to physical reality. Stone walls collapse under sufficient force. Ice walls melt under fire ability incidence. Vegetation walls ignite and propagate fire. Constructs and their physics-chain potential are part of the canonical strategic surface.

Per-construct physical property tags carry in §11 ability prose at v1.2; numerical values for mass, structural\_integrity threshold, ignition temperature, and conductivity rating defer to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H scope.

§5F. Ambient Passive

Ambient Passive is a device-driven canonical mechanic that applies environmental-comfort responses to the protagonist during traversal and exploration without occupying ability slots, consuming Mastery Points, or routing through respec discipline. The protagonist's bonded vril devices respond to ambient environmental conditions through canonical-comfort substrate channeling — protection from heat, cold, and atmospheric extremes during canonical adventure-survival contexts.

§5F.1 Adventure-Survival Discipline

Ambient Passive serves canonical adventure-survival framing. The mechanic does not deliver battlefield advantage; it does not damage enemies; it does not heal the protagonist or allies during combat. Ambient Passive sustains the protagonist through environmental-extreme regions canonical to the 77-chapter solo campaign. Canonical regions where ambient passive responds at canonical depth include Ch 14 Saharan crossing (heat protection), Ch 19 Mid East summer travel (heat protection), Ch 32 Carthage and North African coast (heat plus aridity), Ch 56 Arctic and Ch 65 Antarctica returns (cold protection plus visibility through atmospheric obscurement), Ch 50 Amazon and other rainforest regions (humidity stabilization), Ch 67 Pohjola (extreme cold protection at canonical magnitude).

Ambient Passive surfaces silently. The protagonist does not cast, does not select from a menu, does not allocate resource — the device responds to the substrate-state of the environment and the protagonist's substrate-comfort baseline. Ambient effect intensity registers visibly to perceptive observers (vril-pattern visibility through Vril Sight plus relevant Adeptus Minor passives) but does not produce ability-cast animation or HUD ability-bar surface.

§5F.2 Dual-Axis Scaling

Ambient Passive scales by two coupled axes — bonded device tier and integrity-band-level. Both axes contribute to ambient response magnitude.

Bonded device tier axis. The protagonist's three forced-bonding devices and three player-choice base-element devices each contribute ambient response across their canonical vril-seat coupling. Crown bonded at Ch 15 contributes consciousness-state ambient stability — the protagonist resists hostile vril atmospheric residue and antagonist-family substrate-influence at canonical depth. Third Eye bonded at Ch 38 contributes perception-substrate ambient stability — the protagonist's vision adjusts to low-light, smoke-obscured, and substrate-vision conditions automatically. Throat bonded at Ch 56-57 contributes communication-substrate ambient stability — the protagonist can speak across language barriers at canonical surface depth and registers hostile-intent substrate from approaching NPCs ambient-passively. Base-element devices contribute element-specific ambient response — the Earth-bonded device contributes terrain-comfort during stone-and-mountain traversal; the Water-bonded device contributes hydration-stability and aquatic-environment comfort; the Fire-bonded device contributes thermal regulation under heat-extreme conditions; the Air-bonded device contributes atmospheric-comfort during high-altitude and storm conditions.

Bonding tier scales the magnitude. Tier 1 Neophyte bonded device contributes minor ambient response. Tier 5 Philosophus contributes substantial ambient response. Tier 6 Adeptus Minor contributes canonical-magnitude ambient response that supports protagonist sustenance through extreme regions without external survival gear. Tier 8 Adeptus Exemptus contributes canonical-canon ambient response that allows the protagonist to function in canonical-canon-extreme regions (Antarctica, Ch 67 Pohjola, deep ocean trench at Ch 64 Underwater Sites, the Apsu Ch 68\) at substrate-comfort.

Integrity-band-level axis. The protagonist's canonical integrity band per CVD §17.4 five-band canon contributes ambient response character. L1 Truly Good protagonist receives compassionate ambient response — the substrate of the world responds with warmth, the device-channeled ambient comfort runs at full magnitude, friendly fauna in proximity register the protagonist's substrate-state and offer canonical-aid behaviors during traversal. L2 Good Enough receives neutral ambient response at standard magnitude. L3 Drifting receives balanced ambient response — the protagonist's substrate-state allows ambient response from both compassion-substrate and predation-substrate environmental sources, with substrate-state mediation giving access to environmental information neither L1 nor L4-L5 receive. L4 Evil receives reduced ambient response — friendly fauna avoid the protagonist, the world's substrate-state withholds canonical comfort, devices function at reduced magnitude. L5 Pure Evil receives canonical-minimum ambient response — only the Velheim-aligned substrate registers the protagonist's path-state, and ambient comfort routes through antagonist-family substrate-resources that the L5 protagonist accesses through Bargain Terminal at Adeptus Exemptus tier.

§5F.3 Documented Ambient Response Categories

Ambient Passive surfaces canonical-named response categories. Each category derives from device-bonding plus integrity-band scaling and applies during canonical traversal contexts.

Thermal regulation. The protagonist sustains canonical body-temperature regulation under ambient heat or cold. Fire-bonded device contributes heat-extreme regulation; Water-bonded device contributes cold-extreme regulation through ice-substrate adjustment. At Adeptus Minor tier the protagonist functions in temperature ranges that would defeat unaugmented humans canonical-canon. The mechanic does not eliminate weather-induced dialogue ("the heat is brutal," "this cold is canonical-canon-extreme") — the protagonist registers ambient extremity at protagonist-canonical depth — but mechanical movement-speed-reduction and stamina-drain effects of extreme weather suspend.

Atmospheric stabilization. The protagonist functions in extreme atmospheric conditions — high altitude (Ch 65 Antarctica peaks, Ch 67 Pohjola elevation, Tibetan plateau canonical chapters), low-oxygen environments (deep canonical-canon caves, Ch 64 Underwater Sites at Doggerland depth), sandstorm and dust-storm conditions (Ch 14 Sahara, Ch 19 Mid East, Ch 32 Carthage extreme weather). Air-bonded device contributes the canonical magnitude.

Hydration stability. The protagonist sustains canonical hydration-comfort across desert and arid regions. Water-bonded device contributes the magnitude. The mechanic does not eliminate canonical canonical hydration-resource canonical resource-scarcity — desert chapters surface canonical water-search canonical content — but mechanical stamina-drain and movement-penalty effects of dehydration suspend at sufficient bonding tier.

Precipitation response. The protagonist receives canonical brief-precipitation channeling when ambient conditions reach canonical canonical aridity threshold — the device channels brief atmospheric moisture into a localized precipitation pulse around the protagonist that allows hydration of self and party plus brief vegetation revival in immediate area. Pulse fires once per canonical-multi-hour-canonical-traversal-window; it is not a battlefield ability and does not damage enemies. Air-bonded device combined with Water-bonded device contributes the response. L1 protagonist receives the response at canonical-magnitude; L4-L5 receives reduced or absent response.

Static awareness. The protagonist registers nearby electromagnetic conditions ambient-passively — antagonist-family electronic infrastructure, atmospheric electrical buildup before storm conditions, vril-resonance signatures of nearby ancient sites and Vril Site canonical locations. Crown-bonded plus Third-Eye-bonded devices contribute. The response surfaces as substrate-perception flicker rather than active alert.

Warming aura. The protagonist applies brief canonical-canonical heat to immediate-proximity allies during cold-extreme regions. Fire-bonded device contributes; integrity-band scales — L1 protagonist's warming aura extends meaningfully to bonded familiars, party members, and friendly NPCs in vicinity, while L4-L5 protagonist's aura remains restricted to self.

Hostile substrate detection. The protagonist registers nearby Velheim-aligned substrate, antagonist-family operational signatures, and vril-corrupted entities ambient-passively. Throat-bonded plus Third-Eye-bonded devices contribute the canonical magnitude. The response surfaces as substrate-perception ambient-flicker rather than HUD alert; perceptive players register the canonical signal.

§5F.4 Mechanic Boundary

Ambient Passive does not occupy ability slots. Does not consume Mastery Points. Does not respec. Does not appear in T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry as an ability row. Per §5F framework canonical authority, Ambient Passive is device-state metadata that scales with §10 Device Bonding plus §13 integrity-band, surfacing through canonical region-traversal mechanic. T0\_Worldstate\_Variables at v1.1 plus T1\_Architecture\_and\_State pipeline at Phase 5M ratify the device-state-meets-region-substrate computation that drives Ambient Passive response output.

Ambient Passive is not exposed as an ability the player can choose to enhance through ability-tree investment. The mechanic is canonical and automatic. The player may influence ambient response through device bonding choices (which three of four base-element devices to bond at Ch 19-23, Ch 47-50, Ch 65 player-choice nodes per T1\_Vril §19.1) and through integrity-band trajectory across the canonical campaign — but the mechanic itself is not a slot to fill.

§5F.5 Registry Boundary Scope

Reconciliation landed 2026-07-28 by the canon-residue batch, against the open item raised in the docs/PRE\_5090\_BUILD\_PLAN.md progress-ledger entry 2026-07-27g — that §5F.4 states ambient-passive state does not appear as a registry row while A\_E\_017 Ground Sense does appear. Both statements are true and they do not conflict, because they describe different classes. This subsection states the boundary so the exclusion can be checked rather than assumed.

The §5F.4 exclusion is scoped to the §5F Ambient Passive class alone — the device-driven environmental-comfort mechanic defined across §5F through §5F.4. It does not reach the passive-cast abilities of the §11 per-element catalog or the §12 combo catalog, which legitimately carry registry rows. The distinguishing test is §5F.4's own three-part definition read conjunctively: an Ambient Passive occupies no ability slot, consumes no Mastery Point, and does not respec. An ability that fails any one of the three is a catalog ability whose cast pattern happens to be passive, and it rows.

Measured against the live T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry at its locked 185 rows:

A\_E\_017 Ground Sense resolves as a §11.1 Earth catalog ability at tier 2.0 Zelator, unlock prerequisite Earth 10-29 Zelator, mastery\_point\_cost 1.0, section\_ref §11.1. Its description reads bonded-Root passive ambient terrain sensitivity, where ambient is descriptive prose about what the ability senses rather than a class assignment to §5F. The Earth-bonded device's own Ambient Passive contribution is stated separately at §5F.2 as terrain-comfort during stone-and-mountain traversal, which is a comfort response rather than a perception ability. Both stand and neither is the other. The registry is unchanged by this reconciliation and the locked 185-row count is untouched.

§5G. Physics-Driven Ability Interactions

Physics-Driven Ability Interactions establish that abilities create persistent objects with documented physical properties, and that other abilities act on those properties through realistic physical reality rather than through scripted ability-pair lookup. This is the canonical substrate of emergent gameplay across the 77-chapter solo campaign and forward into Tier C MMO content. The protagonist's abilities are not isolated effects in scripted slots — they are physical actions on a physical world, and the world responds.

§5G.1 Design Authority

Physics-Driven Ability Interactions is the canonical answer to combo-versus-base-element framing. Players do not abandon base elements when Layer B combos unlock at Tier 3 because base elements participate in physics chains that combos do not initiate cleanly. A Fire ability cast on a Vegetation construct propagates Wildfire through canonical physical fire-meets-organic-matter substrate; this is not Layer B Fire+Vegetation combo, this is the physical reality of fire and vegetation. The base elements remain primary spam-cast through canonical campaign because base abilities chain through physics.

Layer B combos are ultimates. Long cooldown, devastating environmental impact, persistent battlefield reshaping — combos earn their cooldown by changing the canonical battlefield in ways base-element-chaining cannot match at canonical magnitude. Physics-chain interactions through base elements are the moment-to-moment expression; Layer B combos are the rare-cast battle-changers.

This framework establishes that the physical-reality substrate is canonical authority. Players who study physics, fluid dynamics, fire behavior, structural failure modes, electrical conductivity, and organic-matter substrate apply real-world physical knowledge as game knowledge. The canonical mastery surface includes physical-reality understanding — players get really good through the same kind of substrate-state understanding that real-world physics-driven activities reward.

§5G.2 Physical Property Taxonomy

Every persistent object created through abilities carries physical properties that drive interaction with subsequent ability casts. The v1.1.1 property taxonomy locks at six core properties; Combat Spec at Phase 5H ratifies numerical thresholds and edge-case property additions.

Mass. Physical mass of the construct or summoned entity. Drives physics response to displacement abilities (Earth Wave pushes mass-bound objects; Wind-class abilities displace low-mass objects easily and high-mass objects barely). Determines collision damage when constructs fall, are pushed, or are destabilized.

Structural integrity. Resistance to physical destruction. Stone wall at high structural integrity withstands many physical strikes; ice wall at moderate structural integrity shatters at moderate force; vegetation wall at low structural integrity breaks under modest physical force. Mastery tier of the creating ability scales structural integrity — Earth Pillar at Tier 5 Philosophus carries higher structural integrity than at Tier 2 Zelator.

Flammability. Susceptibility to ignition and propagation. Vegetation constructs at high flammability ignite at any Fire-class ability incidence. Fabric, dried wood, oil-coated surfaces also at high flammability. Stone, water, wet vegetation at low flammability. Flammability also drives self-propagation rate — high-flammability constructs spread fire to adjacent flammable objects via canonical-realistic fire-physics propagation.

Thermal state. Current temperature substrate. Hot constructs (forged metal, magma terrain from Earth+Fire combo) ignite nearby flammables, melt nearby ice, and damage organic entities in proximity. Cold constructs (ice walls, frozen ground) freeze nearby liquids and slow nearby heat-class abilities. Thermal state also drives state-change behavior — ice melts under sustained heat, water boils under fire, vegetation desiccates under sustained heat.

Conductivity. Electrical conductivity of the substrate. Water at high conductivity propagates Lightning-class abilities through liquid medium across all entities standing in or touching the water. Wet ground, blood, metal weapons, metal armor at high conductivity. Dry stone, dry vegetation, fabric, ice at moderate-to-low conductivity. Air at moderate conductivity for high-magnitude lightning, low for low-magnitude.

Organic substrate. Living-versus-inert distinction. Vegetation constructs at organic substrate respond to vegetation-class abilities at canonical magnitude — Bloom Pulse heals friendly vegetation constructs, Withering Bloom drains them, Forest Call cooperates with them. Inert constructs (stone, ice, fabricated metal, raw fire, raw water) do not respond to organic-substrate-class abilities. Bonded familiars also carry organic substrate property and respond to organic-class chain interactions.

§5G.3 Per-Ability Property Tagging Discipline

Every ability that creates a persistent object carries property tags in §11 ability prose at v1.2. Ability prose registers the construct's mass class (light / medium / heavy), structural integrity class (low / moderate / high), flammability class, thermal state, conductivity class, and organic-substrate class. The tags drive predictable physics-chain interaction.

Earth Pillar carries: heavy mass, high structural integrity, low flammability, neutral thermal state, low conductivity (when dry — wet stone shifts to moderate), inert organic substrate.

Ice Wall carries: heavy mass, moderate structural integrity, zero flammability, cold thermal state, low conductivity (ice; melts to water at high conductivity if heat applied), inert organic substrate.

Living Shield (vegetation construct) carries: medium mass, low structural integrity, high flammability when dry / moderate when fresh, neutral thermal state, low conductivity, organic substrate (responds to vegetation-class chain).

Ignition Field (Fire construct ground residue) carries: zero mass, no structural integrity (no displacement target), maximum flammability propagation source, hot thermal state, low direct conductivity but ignites flammables which then chain, inert organic substrate.

Water Pillar carries: medium mass, low structural integrity (water displaces under force), zero flammability, neutral thermal state (cool ambient), high conductivity, inert organic substrate.

Cyclone (Air construct) carries: low mass (air), moderate structural integrity (sustained vortex resists single-point disruption but yields to large-scale interruption), zero flammability of the construct itself but carries-and-spreads fire applied to its volume, neutral thermal state (cool ambient unless fused), moderate conductivity at Cyclone-fusion-Lightning state, inert organic substrate.

Per-ability property tags for construct-creating abilities populate at v1.2 lock per Phase 5G-4-C D2 selective scope. cast\_pattern and persistence\_class enums populate for all 140 catalog rows in T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry; physical\_properties\_array populates for construct-creating abilities only (Stone Wall, Earth Pillar, Living Stone, Ignition Field, Ember Trail, Ice Wall, Ice Pillar, Living Shield, Cyclone, Tesla Field, plus all Layer B combo terrain-reshape entries).

§5G.4 Canonical Interaction Patterns

Six canonical interaction patterns illustrate physics-driven ability chaining. These are exemplars, not an exhaustive catalog — the framework is physical reality, not scripted pair lookup.

Fire meets Vegetation. Any Fire-class ability incidence on any Vegetation-class construct or organic-substrate region triggers Wildfire propagation per realistic fire-meets-organic-matter physics. Propagation rate scales with vegetation density, dryness, wind direction (Air-class environmental conditions), and fire-source magnitude. Wildfire propagates to adjacent flammable-tagged objects. Wildfire is canonical battlefield mechanic across canonical chapters with vegetation-dense regions; it is also canonical hazard that the protagonist must avoid triggering during canonical Ch 57 Australia no-combat content and other cultural-substrate-protective regions.

Lightning meets Water. Any Lightning-class ability incidence on any Water-class construct, water medium (rain, river, ocean, water-soaked ground), or wet entity triggers Conduction propagation. All entities sharing the conductive water medium take Lightning damage at canonical magnitude. Effective in coastal, riverine, and rain-region combat at canonical depth — Ch 8 Swahili Coast, Ch 50 Amazon, Ch 56 Arctic during precipitation, naval combat through canonical Pirate side-questline. Hostile to careless protagonist play — casting Lightning while standing in water shocks the protagonist.

Force meets Wall. Any Earth Wave, Stone Hammer, Quake, or sufficient-magnitude impact ability against any wall-class construct triggers Structural Failure cascade per realistic structural-physics. Walls collapse along stress lines; collapse direction is predictable from impact vector; collapsed wall debris becomes physics-class debris with mass and momentum. Stone walls collapse through fragmentation; ice walls shatter through brittle failure; vegetation walls break through tearing. Collapsed debris damages entities in collapse-path canonical magnitude scaling with mass.

Heat meets Ice. Any Fire-class ability incidence on any Ice-class construct, frozen-ground region, or cold-thermal-state object triggers State Change. Ice melts to water at canonical rate scaling with fire magnitude; water at the resulting puddle carries water properties and propagates Lightning if subsequent Lightning ability casts. Ice constructs in destabilization phase (final five-to-ten seconds of persistence) melt at greatly accelerated rate under any heat source — including ambient hot weather conditions in canonical Ch 14, Ch 19, Ch 32 hot regions.

Pillar meets Slope. Any Earth Pillar or large stone construct created on a slope, hillside, or cliff face triggers Avalanche or Rockslide cascade if subsequently destabilized through Earth Wave, Quake, or sustained Earth-mastery destabilization cast. Player intent matters — pillars created on flat ground stand; pillars created on slope are kinetic-energy reservoirs. Mountain regions canonical to canonical chapters (Ch 38 Azores high terrain, Ch 56 Arctic, Ch 65 Antarctica, Ch 67 Pohjola) gate canonical content on slope-substrate awareness and avalanche-cascade triggering.

Living Forest plus Fire. Forest Call summons living-vegetation forest construct at organic-substrate. Subsequent Fire-class ability incidence triggers Wildfire chain at canonical-canon battlefield magnitude — the protagonist's own summoned forest becomes battlefield-scale wildfire if friendly fire occurs, or canonical Wildfire weapon if cast deliberately against enemy-occupying-summoned-forest. The L1 Truly Good protagonist receives integrity-band penalty for Wildfire cast on Forest Call summons in cultural-substrate-protective regions — the canonical compassion-track expects environmental-substrate care.

§5G.5 Mastery Scaling Across Both Axes

Physics-Driven Ability Interactions scale with mastery on both creation and alteration sides.

Creation side. Mastery scales construct property quality. A Tier 3 Theoricus Stone Wall carries low structural integrity that collapses easily; a Tier 5 Philosophus Stone Wall carries high structural integrity that withstands canonical-magnitude force. A Tier 6 Adeptus Minor Ice Wall carries moderate-to-high structural integrity through substrate-stabilization that lower-tier ice constructs cannot achieve. Higher mastery means physical properties register at higher canonical magnitudes.

Alteration side. Mastery scales destruction and conversion magnitude. A Tier 2 Earth Wave displaces small constructs and minor terrain features; a Tier 5 Earth Wave shatters Stone Wall constructs at moderate magnitude; a Tier 6 Adeptus Minor Earth Wave triggers Avalanche cascades at canonical-canon magnitude across entire mountainsides. Higher mastery means physical alteration registers at higher canonical magnitudes.

Both axes together establish the canonical mastery surface. The protagonist who reaches canonical Inner Order mastery on Earth, Water-as-Ice, and Fire — three of the four base elements — commands physics-chain expressions at canonical-canon magnitudes that the canonical campaign and forward MMO content surface as canonical battlefield experience.

§5G.6 Distinction From Layer B Combos

Physics-driven chains and Layer B combos are distinct mechanics with distinct discipline.

Physics-driven chains are emergent. Player casts Lightning ability into water medium. The Conduction chain triggers automatically as a consequence of physical reality. No combo cooldown engages. Player vril cost is the Lightning ability cost only. The chain effect (water-medium Lightning damage) is automatic physics applied to whoever stands in the conductive medium. Players can chain physics interactions in rapid succession through clever base-element ability sequencing.

Layer B combos are deliberate. Player casts Mud and Clay (Earth+Water Tier 5 combo). Combo engages canonical combo-cooldown — substantial cooldown class per §12 framework, exact value at Combat Spec — and combo persists at canonical magnitude per §5E charge-hold and §5E.4 persistence cap. Player vril cost is the combo cost (high; spans both base pools per §5C). The combo creates dedicated canonical battlefield effect that physics-chains-of-base-elements cannot replicate.

Both mechanisms coexist. The protagonist who masters physics chains through base elements at high tier plus deploys Layer B combos at tactical canonical-magnitude moments expresses canonical mastery surface neither mechanism alone provides. The eight-element architecture supports both expressions; canonical campaign and MMO content reward both.

§5G.7 Property Tag Schema Integration

T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry v1.1.1 schema integrates physical-property metadata through new column physical\_properties\_array (semicolon-separated property tags per ability, format mass:medium;structural\_integrity:high;flammability:zero;thermal\_state:neutral;conductivity:low;organic\_substrate:inert). Empty array for abilities that do not create persistent constructs (most offensive Tier 1-3 base abilities, mobility abilities, perception abilities). Populated for abilities that create persistent objects per §5G framework — Stone Wall, Earth Pillar, Ice Wall, Ice Pillar, Water Pillar, Living Shield, Thornsmen, Ignition Field, Cyclone, all Layer B combos that produce persistent terrain, all Layer C trade-element abilities that produce persistent area effects.

Schema additions for v1.1.1 registry — three new columns appended to v1.1 23-column schema, bringing schema to 26 columns total at v1.1.1 framework lock.

cast\_pattern enum populated values — instant, charge\_hold, sustained\_drain, channeled, passive, ambient. Tag populates per ability mechanic.

persistence\_class enum populated values — instant, brief (under five seconds), sustained (five to thirty seconds), charge\_hold\_scaled (one to two minutes Earth, one minute Vegetation, thirty to sixty seconds Ice, ten to thirty seconds Fire, one to ten seconds Air), battlefield\_minutes (Layer B combo ultimates), permanent (canonical infrastructure-class abilities like Storm Architect, Forge Reality).

combo\_character enum populated for Layer B only — heal, damage, utility, terrain\_reshape, control, hybrid. Empty for Layer A, C, E rows.

physical\_properties\_array as fourth new column appended brings schema to 27 columns total. Format semicolon-separated property:value pairs; empty for non-construct abilities.

Population of new columns occurs at v1.2 lock per Phase 5G-4-C scope across 140 canonical rows — cast\_pattern and persistence\_class enums populate universally; combo\_character populates Layer B combo-tier rows only; physical\_properties\_array populates construct-creating abilities only.

§5H. Ability Progression Bonuses — The Two Lanes

Per docs/COMBAT_PROGRAM_ADDENDUM.md §7, mastery tiers grant mechanical bonuses, not presentation alone. Bonuses arrive in two lanes with different jobs. Lane A sharpens what an ability does. Lane B changes what an ability is. Together the two lanes carry this section's standing balance principle — a low-tier ability mastered deeply keeps its place among the late-game kit.

§5H.1 Lane A — Proficiency-Tier Bonuses

Lane A is the smooth mastery ladder. Each level advance on the §2 framework carries an incremental bonus that makes the ability sharper without changing its identity — twelve per capability, one at every level. The seed set comes from the ruling's fireball example, which reads onto the catalog as Fire Bolt at §11.3: reduced cast time; reduced target elemental resistance, the resistance-pierce class; increased elemental superiority, amplifying the matrix edge the ability already holds per §12; increased raw damage; increased critical chance.

The seed set is the authoring baseline, not the roster ceiling. Bonus kinds are drawn per ability class so the pool suits the ability. Mobility abilities per §5D draw range, duration, recovery, and directional-control bonuses rather than damage, consistent with the §5D.3 discipline that mobility tier-ups expand traversal rather than damage magnitude. Environmental-manipulation abilities per §5E draw construct persistence, structural integrity, reinforce-cost reduction, and charge-window forgiveness. Perception and ambient passives per §5F draw detection range, signal resolution, and earlier registration. Healing-class abilities draw channel efficiency, over-time depth, and target count. The factory expands each element's Lane A roster per chapter as the catalog reaches it; a class-blind pool that offers a mobility ability a critical-damage bonus is an authoring defect.

Lane A bonuses are additive to the EAM overlay per §10, never a substitute for it. EAM polish scales expression at a device-bonded vril-seat position; Lane A bonuses are earned per tier at any vril-seat position, bonded or standard-progression. A standard-progression vril-seat per §10.5 therefore still climbs a real mechanical ladder — the absence of EAM polish costs expression, not progression.

Magnitudes defer to Phase 5M. Lane A bonus rows carry shape and direction at this lock; numerical values land at the balance phase. Probabilistic bonuses (critical chance, proc-class effects) route through T1\_RNG\_Sigma\_Constraint\_System per §1.

§5H.2 Lane B — Quest-Gate Transformative Upgrades

Lane B rides the twelve level-gate crossings per §2's level index — one quest-unlock crossing per level, twelve per capability. A gate bonus changes what the ability is. The seed set comes from the ruling's fireball and earth-tremor examples, which read onto the catalog as Fire Bolt at §11.3 and Tremor Stomp at §11.1. Fire Bolt gains three projectiles instead of one, an area-of-effect explosion on hit, and casting while moving. Tremor Stomp gains a brief stun above its authored stagger, randomized earthen-wall segments circling the protagonist, and a brief mobility surge.

These are seeds for proper expansion, not the list. Every ability in the §11 catalog carries a transformative set appropriate to its own identity — a construct ability gains a second construct or a shape change, a perception passive gains a sustained mode or a shared-with-party mode, a mobility ability gains a mid-flight redirect or a chained second burst. The factory authors each ability's gate set as the chapter that unlocks the ability builds.

Because Lane B changes identity, gate bonuses interact with the §5G.7 registry enums. Cast-while-moving converts an animation-locked cast into a moving cast, which is a cast\_pattern change. Tremor Stomp's wall-ring, where the base ability created no construct at all, adds a persistence\_class value and a physical\_properties\_array entry carrying the Earth-construct properties of §5G.2, which means the new segments enter the physics chains of §5G.4 exactly as an authored construct does. The discipline: a gate bonus states its enum override on the bonus row rather than mutating the base ability row. The base ability stays canonical at its authored values, and the override is legible as an earned change.

CVD §17.5 governs Lane B absolutely. A gate bonus requires the canonical quest-unlock event; numerical threshold alone never grants a transformative upgrade. Because every one of the twelve levels is quest-gated, every level crossing carries a Lane B upgrade and the §5I major pick that comes with it — twelve per capability, with no crossing left empty. The two Hermetic ceremonies keep their full narrative and ceremonial weight inside the crossings they ride rather than carrying picks of their own: the Portal Grade wisdom-test is level 5's own gate and the Crossing of the Abyss rides the level 10 to level 11 crossing, and each lands its transformative beat as the Lane B upgrade of the crossing it belongs to.

Combo abilities inherit rather than duplicate. Per the §5C derived-proficiency discipline, a Layer B combo reads the bonus state of both contributing bases instead of carrying a separate bonus pool of its own, exactly as combo proficiency computes from the two contributing base proficiencies. Per-combo inheritance specifics land at the schema pass.

§5H.3 Horizontal Relevance

Dead kit is a banned outcome. A Tier 1 ability carried to full bonus depth stays competitive alongside a higher-tier ability held at shallow investment — Lane A gives the early ability a ceiling worth climbing, Lane B gives it identity changes that keep it tactically distinct, and neither expires because a later tier opened.

The catalog consequence is direct. The 185 abilities are not a ladder to be climbed and discarded. Investment depth becomes a real build axis alongside tier height, which is what makes the §5A per-element allocation choices durable rather than provisional — a player who spent early points on Earth Tier 1-2 abilities and mastered them has a build, not a mistake.

The test is measured, not asserted. An ability that appears in no viable late-game build is a horizontal-relevance defect, surfaced by the build-space sweeps per §14A.5.

§5H.4 Schema and Consumers

Per-ability tier-bonus rows land on the T0\_Ability\_Tree\_Registry extension rail rather than as new columns on the base row — each row keyed on ability plus tier plus lane, carrying bonus\_kind, shape, pool membership per §5I, and any enum override per §5H.2. Magnitudes populate at Phase 5M.

Three consumers read those rows. The ability foundry applies bonuses at cast per addendum §1. The mastery presentation ladder per addendum §5 renders the same tier key visually, so a bonus-deepened ability looks as practiced as it plays, with no power carried in the presentation. T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec consumes bonus shapes at Phase 5H for damage-formula integration per §1's deferral discipline.

§5I. Selectable Bonus Pools, Spec Purposes, and the Universal Pool Rule

Per docs/COMBAT_PROGRAM_ADDENDUM.md §9 plus §10, tier bonuses are chosen, not issued. Each level presents a Lane A pool and a Lane B pool, and the player takes one pick from each, so that two protagonists who unlocked the same abilities at the same levels still play different builds. Selection is the agency layer over §5H's two lanes.

§5I.1 Minor Picks and Major Picks

Minor picks ride the twelve levels and draw from Lane A pools — the incremental bonuses of §5H.1. Major picks ride the twelve level gates and draw from Lane B pools — the transformative upgrades of §5H.2. The split follows the §2 single level index. The earlier becoming-against-crossing rationale is retired rather than preserved: under the ratified twelve-level framework every level is a rung the practitioner stands on and a quest gate the practitioner crosses per CVD §17.5, so the two are one event read from two sides, and the honest discriminator is the lane each pick draws from — sharpening what an ability does against changing what an ability is.

Every level pays a pair. Each of the twelve levels grants one minor pick from that level's Lane A pool and one major pick from that level gate's Lane B pool, so a developable capability carried to level 12 has taken 24 picks — twelve minor and twelve major. The solo-reachable count is 22, eleven of each, because level 12 Magus is Tier C MMO endgame only per §2 and the solo path caps at level 11 Magister Templi. No level is empty and no crossing carries a triple. The Portal Grade ceremony and the Crossing of the Abyss carry no picks of their own — they ride inside level 5's gate and the level 10 to level 11 crossing per §2, holding their ceremony weight as the content of those crossings while the picks stay keyed on the levels.

A pool is a roster of options, not a fixed grant. Pool breadth is a design requirement — a pool offering one real choice with filler beside it is not a pool, and the sweeps of §14A.5 will report it as such. Pools are authored per ability class per §5H.1, so the options a player chooses between are genuinely alternative ways to play the same ability rather than ranked versions of one bonus.

Selection state is per capability, per ability, per tier. Selection-state schema and the bonus respec model defer to the schema pass; §5A's distinct-grants paragraph fixes the relationship to Mastery Points, and §5B.1 remains the authority on point reallocation. Purchasable second and third equipment-and-ability loadout sets, quick-changed at waterfall and vril-recharge sites per addendum §9, let one protagonist carry more than one selection profile; the loadout mechanic itself is owned by T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec Section 14, and this doc owns only the ability-side selection state each set carries.

§5I.2 Spec Purposes

Pools carry build-defining purposes so that distinct specifications emerge from the same catalog. The canonical seed set: vril-healing focus against vril-damage focus; resource specifications covering vril regeneration rate and healing over time; personal scope against area-of-effect scope. Each element expands the seed set along its own character — Earth toward fortification and denial, Water toward sustain and state-change, Air toward mobility and control, Ether toward perception, communication, and connection per §11.5 through §11.7.

Spec purposes are already implicit in the catalog and the pools make them selectable. The healing-class abilities of §11 become a healing specification when a player's pool picks compound toward channel efficiency, over-time depth, and party scope; the same ability set played toward damage picks a different set of purposes from the same pools. The §13 integrity-band modifiers layer on top of spec choice at calibrated magnitude and never replace it — path identity comes from catalog access, spec identity comes from pool selection, and the two are orthogonal axes of the same build.

Spec purposes carry role tags into §14A. A vril-healing personal-scope specification is a single-target heal role; the same healing purpose at area scope is a group heal role. The tagging is what lets the sweeps count builds per role.

§5I.3 The Universal Pool Rule

Pools are not an ability-tree feature. Every developable capability on the §3 roster carries minor and major pools appropriate to it — the six attributes, the seventy-two weapon proficiencies, the ten trades, familiar bond, language fluency, inscription, Intuition, and Astral Projection — and gear imprints carry pools of their own per addendum §8.

Ownership follows the §1 authority split. This doc owns the ability instance. T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec owns the weapon-proficiency and gear-imprint instances. T1\_Trades\_Master owns the trade instance alongside the 120-questline roster of twelve level gates multiplied by ten trades. T1\_Integrity\_Paths\_Worldstates\_Master owns the companion and familiar stat layer that ally pools sit on. One architecture, per-domain rosters, no duplicated rows.

§5I.4 Rarity on Pool Options and the MYTHIC Apex

Pool options carry rarity, and the rarity ladder runs above legendary to mythic. Higher-rarity options appear in later-tier pools; the deepest options are the ones a player reaches only by carrying a capability to its summit, and the completed final mastery questline grants up to legendary and mythic.

MYTHIC is a rarity grade — a value an item or a pool option carries — and never a rung of the mastery ladder. LEGENDARY and MYTHIC are the rarity grades of equipment, consumables, drops, crafting items, and runes; they are never mastery-tier names, and the completed final mastery questline grants access to those grades rather than promoting the practitioner to a new rung. This correction mints no new mastery rung, and the rarity correction itself re-based no part of the §2 mastery framework. The framework has since been re-based by a separate ruling, stated here so this paragraph is never read as a live claim of stasis: at the twentieth sitting of 2026-07-28 the retired grade-and-gate two-index reading gave way to the single twelve-level index and the gate count re-keyed with it, while the ten canonical names stand as BANDS over the twelve levels per the ratified band mapping. Mythic describes what a pool option is worth, never a rung the practitioner stands on.

Provenance: corrected 2026-07-27 to the ruled reading (Josh, tenth sitting, item F-1, per docs/spine/DECISIONS\_PENDING\_JOSH.md) and completed 2026-07-28 at the twentieth sitting. The vocabulary rule reads: mastery runs in LEVELS 1 through 12 with the ten Hermetic GRADES as bands over them, and rarity runs in RARITY GRADES — legendary and mythic. The two senses of the word grade are disambiguated by qualifier and never by exclusivity: a mastery grade is a band of levels, a rarity grade is a value an item or a pool option carries, and each is written with its qualifier wherever both readings are available. Both questions the earlier wording routed forward are RULED rather than open. The ten canonical names map onto the twelve levels as the ratified band table sets them out (GRADE\_BAND\_MAPPING\_2026-07-28, Josh YES: one-to-one through level 6, Adeptus Major banding levels 7 and 8, Adeptus Exemptus banding levels 9 and 10), and levels 11 and 12 are Magister Templi and Magus. The framework is levels one through twelve with major gating questlines at the fifth-to-sixth and eleventh-to-twelfth crossings, and the reconciliation against this doc's gate count is landed rather than routed — §2 carries the single level index, and §5H plus §5I key twelve minor picks on the levels and twelve major picks on the level gates.

Mythic is earned, never dropped. The completed final mastery questline for the capability is the only source — the post-Ch 77 prestige crossing per §2 and §5, reachable through Tier A solo completion plus the capability's prestige questline. Which crossing that questline rides is RULED — Josh, 2026-07-27, D-MYTHIC-GATE option (a) per docs/spine/DECISIONS\_PENDING\_JOSH.md: mythic rides the final solo-reachable mastery-gate crossing, and the Tier C Magus crossing extends pool rosters without gating the mythic apex. No drop table, boss reward, or rarity-graded roll produces a mythic pool option; the gear-imprint rune lane owned by T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec reaches its own ceiling by rolls, and the earned apex sits above what any roll can reach. The Tier C Magus crossing extends the pool roster further per §2's Tier C-only Magus canon, and does not gate the mythic apex — a solo protagonist who finishes the mastery questline reaches the summit of their own build.

Pool integrity is measured rather than asserted. A pool option no player ever picks is a balance defect; the discipline, the sweeps, and the defect definitions live at §14A.5.

§7. Visual Appearance Manifestation

Current attribute levels produce real-time visual effects on the protagonist's body. Appearance is a living visual record of lifestyle choices.

Strength manifestation. High Strength at numerical 80 plus shows visible muscle definition, broader shoulders and chest, strong posture. Low Strength at numerical 30 minus shows thin frame, less defined musculature.

Constitution manifestation. High Constitution at numerical 80 plus shows healthy complexion, steady breathing even in combat. Low Constitution at numerical 30 minus shows pale complexion and visible fatigue under combat stress.

Agility manifestation. High Agility at numerical 80 plus shows fluid movement animations, relaxed stance. Low Agility at numerical 30 minus shows stiff animations and slower turn rates.

Dexterity manifestation. High Dexterity at numerical 80 plus shows graceful hands and smooth weapon transitions. Low Dexterity at numerical 30 minus shows fumbling animations and slower item use.

Final rendered appearance derives from age stage plus attribute levels plus integrity state plus Ch 1 customization baseline. Age stage is owned by CVD §10. Integrity state appearance shifts are owned by T1\_Integrity\_Paths\_Worldstates\_Master §7. The composite is rendered at runtime per Pipeline Contracts §1.5 UE5 appearance renderer.

Attribute-driven appearance is distinct from mastery-driven ability presentation. §7 renders the protagonist's body from attribute levels. The mastery presentation ladder per docs/COMBAT_PROGRAM_ADDENDUM.md §5 renders each ability's animation refinement, effect density, audio confidence, and follow-through from the capability's current tier — the novice's rough cast against the Magus's liquid one — reading the same tier key that drives §5A grants and §5H bonuses. The ladder is presentation only. Power lives in the §5H bonus rows and the damage model owned by T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec; a tier that looks more practiced never also hits harder for looking it.

§8. Training Activities

Training activities are cultural-grounded content surfaces. Training is learning. Every training activity engages documented cultural and historical material at canonical depth.

Cultural depiction discipline applies to all training content per CVD §6 cultural depiction standard. Sites at Ch 29 Sámi, Ch 42 Haiti, and Ch 57 Australia carry the canonical high-care cultural region treatment per T1\_Architecture\_and\_State high-care cultural region set.

§9. The Eight-Element Architecture

Eight elements structure the ability catalog. Five are vril-seat-based and accessible from Ch 2 onward at low mastery. Three are trade-unlocked and become available as their underlying trade reaches mid-Outer-Order numerical thresholds.

Vril-seat-based elements covering five categories.

Trade-unlocked elements covering three categories.

The three trade-unlocked elements are not vril-seat-coupled. They represent capabilities developed by humans after the vril depletion in response to a world with reduced atmospheric energy. The protagonist can master them through trade engagement, but they do not infuse via vril-seat-equipment in the EAM sense.

§10. Vril-seat Architecture and Device Bonding

Per Vril §2 \+ §4 \+ §12.1 architecture lock, seven vril-seat positions exist on the protagonist with seven corresponding equipment slots. Six vril-seat-coupled devices acquire across the arc through canonical chapter-event bondings. The seventh device powers the Vimana flying vehicle and does not bond to a vril-seat position. The result per playthrough: six vril-seat positions receive Enhanced Ability Mastery via device infusion, one base-element vril-seat position remains at standard twelve-tier progression by emergent consequence of player choices at the three player-choice device acquisitions.

§10.1 The Seven Vril-seats and Equipment Slot Mapping

Seven vril-seat positions correspond to seven canonical equipment slots. Element coupling per vril-seat position follows the canonical first-systematic-introduction at Ch 4 Bali yogic substrate.

The vril-seat-element coupling is canonical at the architectural level. Specific element-vril-seat mapping ratification at the combat-integration level defers to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Session 5H scope.

§10.2 The Six Vril-seat-Coupled Devices and Acquisition Schedule

Six vril-seat-coupled devices acquire across the arc through canonical chapter-event bondings. Three forced Ether bindings unlock main-story progression beats. Three player-choice base-element bindings allow specialization identity formation. The acquisition schedule paces the protagonist's growth arc with the canonical 77-chapter structure.

The Vimana device, Device 1 of 7 per Vril §3, activates at Ch 55 Atacama and powers the Vimana flying vehicle. The Vimana device does not bond to a vril-seat position and is not part of the vril-seat-coupled six.

§10.3 Forced Ether Bindings

Devices 1, 3, 5 bond by structural canonical match at the canonical chapter beats. Player has no choice at these bondings — the device-vril-seat match is baked into the main-story progression because each unlocks story-gated abilities at the canonical chapter.

The forced Ether bindings cannot be Device-Bonding-Respec'd per §5B.2 because they are tied to canonical narrative milestones and main-story unlocks. The protagonist's Ether-class capability progression is canonical and shared across all playthroughs.

§10.4 Player-Choice Base-Element Bindings

Devices 2, 4, 6 bond by player choice at the canonical bonding ritual scene at each acquisition chapter. Each ritual scene presents the four base-element vril-seat positions and lets the player commit one of the unbonded options. Once committed, the bonding holds for the playthrough unless Device-Bonding-Respec applies per §5B.2.

The three player-choice bondings produce signature playthrough identity. Possible bonding triplets across Devices 2, 4, 6 from the four base elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) — choose 3 of 4:

Four distinct skip-choice playthroughs as the primary specialization axis. Multiplied by integrity-band biography branches, trade-specialization choices, Ether sub-category specialization, and weapon-fusion focus, the canonical replayability per §14 is genuine.

§10.5 Standard-Progression Vril-seat Emergence

The seventh vril-seat position — the one that never receives a vril-seat-coupled device — emerges as the standard-progression vril-seat per Vril §4 Reading A canonical mechanic. The standard-progression vril-seat is determined by the player's choices at Devices 2, 4, 6\. Whichever base-element vril-seat is not bonded across the three player-choice acquisitions becomes the standard-progression vril-seat for the playthrough.

The standard-progression vril-seat still progresses through all twelve levels per CVD §12.1. Tier 1 Neophyte through Tier 9 Magister Templi via Ch 77 prestige questline. Tier 10 Magus via Tier C MMO collective-action engagement. The standard-progression vril-seat lacks only the EAM device-infusion overlay per Vril §3 Reading A — abilities at that vril-seat cast at standard 12-level expression rather than at EAM-polished expression.

Visibility to perceptive observers. The standard-progression vril-seat signature is canonically visible to substrate-perception-capable in-world observers. Ch 57 Australian elder recognition references the standard-progression vril-seat signature. Ch 76-77 Grand Sage Waterfall reveal references the cumulative vril-seat-signature pattern. Both narrative beats land because the standard-progression vril-seat is earned through play — the consequence of accumulated choices visible to perceptive observers as the imprint of the protagonist's actual journey.

Ether vril-seat positions are never the standard-progression vril-seat under the canonical device-bonding architecture. Devices 1, 3, 5 forced bondings at Crown, Third Eye, Throat ensure the three Ether positions always receive EAM device infusion. The standard-progression vril-seat is always one of the four base-element vril-seats (Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, or Heart) depending on which the player skipped at Devices 2, 4, 6\.

§10.6 Combat Integration with EAM

EAM-pair combos reach peak expression when both contributing vril-seat positions are device-bonded EAM. Combo proficiency derives per §5C from the two contributing base proficiencies; combo Mastery Point cost spans both contributing base pools per §5C dual-pool model. With three player-choice base-element bondings plus three forced Ether bondings, the EAM-pair combo eligibility map per §12 Combo Element Matrix becomes per the player's bonding triplet.

Per-combo damage profile, status effect duration, sigma-constraint randomization, and animation specifications defer to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Session 5H scope. The EAM-pair tier mechanic and the standard-on-EAM fallback expression are owned by this section at the canonical architectural level.

§10.7 Negative-Vril Accumulation at Vril-seat Positions

Negative-vril accumulation can occur at any vril-seat position regardless of EAM-bonding status. The Velheim family operational sectors per T4\_House\_of\_Velheim\_Canonical §9.1 covering Financial, Pharmaceutical, Surveillance and Military, Cultural, Vril standalone, and Extractive concentrate negative vril at vril-seat positions correlated with sector function. Specific vril-seat-to-sector mapping is owned by T4\_House\_of\_Velheim\_Canonical.

Standard-progression vril-seat positions are not protected from negative-vril accumulation — the absence of EAM polish does not confer immunity. The protagonist's substrate-state is the protective factor, not the vril-seat-bonding state. Path-locked abilities at L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil bands can route negative-vril through any vril-seat position the protagonist has substrate access to, including the standard-progression vril-seat.

§11. Per-Element Ability Catalog

The v1.4 catalog comprises approximately 185 distinct abilities at Phase 5G-4-D-3 Final Lock per §3 detailed breakdown. A single playthrough masters approximately forty to sixty. The catalog below documents each ability by element, twelve-tier unlock threshold, integrity gate where applicable per CVD §9.2 five-band canon, vril cost class, and unlock prerequisites. Ability descriptions emphasize canonical effect and game-world function. Per-ability detailed mechanics including damage scaling, status effect duration, animation specifications, and physical property tags per §5G framework defer to Phase 5G-4-B and 5G-4-C catalog refactor and authoring sessions. Combo cooldown numerical values defer to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H scope.

Every ability's vril\_cost is spent from the depletable Vril pool — the HUD vril bubble per T1\_Vril §1. Base casting of all 185 abilities is runeless and mastery-channeled. An ability becomes castable by climbing its mastery gate, and is then channeled from vril within, the reclaimed elven birthright, and vril around, the ambient substrate density; it is never slotted onto a spell-hotbar and never inscribed onto gear. Only custom merged spells involve an inscription step, and only through the one-time spell-creation catalyst per the T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec resource and enhancement note.

§11.1 Earth Element

Root vril-seat position. Feet equipment slot. Heavy, grounding, immovable. Combined with Fire produces Metal sub-elements; with Water produces Mud and Clay; with Lightning produces Magnetism.

Stone Skin — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 2 first vril use. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist's skin temporarily hardens against incoming physical damage. The earliest defensive Earth ability and a foundation for later vril-seat-equipment integration.

Tremor Stomp — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 2 after the bear encounter. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. A localized seismic pulse staggers nearby enemies and disrupts standing combatants.

Rock Throw — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 3 Manggarai training. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Ranged single-target Earth projectile drawn from local terrain.

Stone Wall — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Ch 7 plus Blacksmithing numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5E.1 framework. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled (Earth one to two minutes per §5E.4). Physical properties — heavy mass, high structural integrity, low flammability, neutral thermal state, low conductivity (when dry; wet stone shifts to moderate), inert organic substrate. The protagonist raises a stone barrier from the ground that blocks line of sight and projectile path. The Blacksmithing trade gates the wall's structural reliability.

Stoneshape — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Earth numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Mining numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist refines raw stone substrate into shaped forms at canonical Outer Order precision — projectile darts, basic crafted tools, sealed containers. Shaped stone retains Earth-substrate physical properties and persists at canonical sustained class without active vril maintenance. The canonical utility precursor to Tier 3 Earth Pillar charge-hold construction — Stoneshape provides crafted-form precision while Earth Pillar provides bulk-construct capability.

Ground Sense — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Earth numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. Bonded-Root device ambient response per §5F.3 framework — the protagonist passively detects terrain disturbances within canonical proximity radius. Surfaces include hidden passages, underground water, unstable ground, recent footprint imprints, and buried metal or stone objects. Detection magnitude scales with bonded-Root device tier per §5F.2 dual-axis scaling. The canonical investigation-and-survival passive that supports exploration without combat-cast cycle.

Earth Pillar — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Earth numerical 30-49 plus Mining numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5E.1. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled. Physical properties — heavy mass, high structural integrity, low flammability, neutral thermal state, low conductivity, inert organic substrate. The protagonist raises a free-standing stone pillar from the ground at canonical maximum size approximately three meters tall and one meter cross-section at full charge-hold. Distinct from Stone Wall in being free-standing single-pillar form rather than barrier-form. Protagonist may stand atop the pillar at canonical traversal-vertical scope, jump from pillar to pillar at Adeptus Minor mastery for parkour-class traversal, and reinforce the pillar at compounding cost per §5E.2 reuse mechanic. Pillars on slopes carry kinetic-energy reservoir status triggering Pillar-meets-Slope avalanche cascade per §5G.4 if subsequently destabilized.

Seismic Pulse — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Ch 16 Indus Valley chapter completion. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Wider-area seismic disruption with crowd-control effect against grouped enemies.

Earth Grip — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Ch 10 Rift Valley chapter. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Stone tendrils restrain a target in place.

Stone Spike — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Earth numerical 50-69 Practicus plus Mining numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist projects a refined directional stone spike at target — high-velocity piercing damage at impact plus Force-meets-Wall structural-failure cascade triggering against any wall-class construct in the impact zone per §5G.4 physics chain. Distinct from Rock Throw at Tier 1 in canonical-magnitude piercing precision and physics-chain trigger; distinct from Earth Wave at Tier 5 in single-target focus rather than area kinetic-displacement. The canonical mid-tier offensive Earth that bridges Tier 1 ranged projectile and Tier 5 area-physics-chain.

Earth Surf — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Earth numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high (sustained-drain). Cast pattern sustained\_drain per §5D.1. The protagonist surfs across terrain on a moving stone wave at sustained-drain mobility class — premium speed advantage outpacing sprinting at canonical magnitude per §5D.2. Direction is player-input-dependent; collision-with-terrain failure mode applies per Earth-axis mobility risk pattern. The wave persists until vril exhausts or the protagonist toggles off; sustained-drain rate is lowest among the four mobility-class elements per §5D.1, supporting protracted traversal across canonical chapter regions.

Earth Burrow — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Earth numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Mining numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern channeled per §5D.1. The protagonist sinks into substrate and travels blind by directional input through underground passage — channel breaks combat-and-cast availability for the channel duration; the trade is silent traversal beneath line-of-sight at canonical depth. Surfaces on player release or at maximum-duration cap (canonical limit approximately thirty seconds at Tier 5, extending at Adeptus Minor mastery). Effective in any natural-substrate terrain; reduced effectiveness in fabricated-stone or substrate-thin regions (high cliff faces, ice-substrate, paved urban infrastructure).

Earth Wave — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Earth numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist projects a kinetic ground-wave across canonical area — displacement damage to enemies caught in the wave path, structural-failure cascade triggers against any wall-class construct in the wave path per §5G.4 Force-meets-Wall pattern, and Pillar-meets-Slope cascade triggers if Earth Pillars or large stone constructs are in the wave path on slope terrain. The canonical destabilization-trigger ability that activates physics chains across the Earth-construct surface.

Living Stone — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Mining numerical 70-99 Philosophus mastery. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled at construct duration. Physical properties — heavy mass, moderate-to-high structural integrity (scales with Mining tier), low flammability, neutral thermal state, low conductivity, inert organic substrate. The protagonist temporarily animates a stone construct to fight at their side. Mining trade gates the construct's durability and the duration of animation.

Mountain Form — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Ch 38 Azores plus L1 Truly Good or L2 Good Enough integrity band. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant (state transformation). The protagonist's body increases in mass and durability — a vril-enhanced state where Earth energy concentrates in physical form. Movement slows; physical defense and damage increase substantially. The skin takes on a stone-like texture with warm gold veins. The integrity gate reflects the ability's canonical requirement that the practitioner accept limitation as a path to power; the L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil bands cannot access a state that deliberately trades speed for grounding.

Steadfast Stance — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L3 Drifting integrity band plus Earth numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Mining numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. The protagonist enters a battlefield-balance posture — neither flinches under incoming damage nor advances against retreating enemies; absorbed kinetic damage delays into a single timed counter-strike at canonical magnitude on stance release. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the canonical balance requirement — neither offensive aggression nor pure defensive collapse. Distinct from Mountain Form (L1-L2 mass-and-durability transformation) in being neutral-state combat-tempo control rather than path-aligned damage-soak. The canonical Earth combat-balance ability accessing the L3 neutral-state mechanic at mid-tier Philosophus depth.

Corruption Stone — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L4 Evil or L5 Pure Evil integrity band plus Mining numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. A debuff variant of Earth-stone manipulation — the protagonist projects vril-corrupted stone fragments that drain target vitality and apply lasting attribute degradation. The integrity gate enforces canonical path discipline.

Geo Communion — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Mining numerical 100 plus completion of the Geomancer questline. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. At Mining mastery substrate-perception threshold, the protagonist reads geological history through physical contact with terrain — detecting mineral deposits, underground structures, buried objects, and vril signatures of ancient events. Passive ability that activates automatically on contact with natural ground. The Mining questline's combat-equivalent payoff at the Adeptus Minor canonical Adept-initiation event.

Earthsong — Tier 7 Adeptus Major. Unlock at Earth ability numerical 100 plus L3 Drifting integrity band plus completion of the SQ7 Sorcery and Music Theory questline at advanced depth. Vril cost very high. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist produces a sustained tone that affects stone structures within range — revealing hidden passages, weakening defensive structures, and disorienting enemies with strong Earth-element compositions. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the ability's canonical requirement of perfect balance between force and restraint; the path-locked L1 and L4 cannot access the neutral-state mechanic.

§11.2 Water Element

Sacral vril-seat position. Leggings equipment slot. Adaptive and flow-based. Combined with Earth produces Mud and Clay; with Air produces Storm and Mist; with Ether produces Healing Flow. Ice manifests as the canonical sub-form per §9 element architecture — the state-change discipline applied to Water substrate, accessible through the Outer Order Water Bend and Cool Surge precursors and the Inner Order Ice Wall, Ice Pillar, and Ice Path / Frost Slide construct and mobility expressions.

Water Whip — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 4 Bali water training. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Ranged Water-element melee extension with tracking on moving targets.

Fluid Dodge — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 4 Bali chapter. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist's evasion timing windows expand under Water-element activation.

Mist Screen — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 6 Sri Lanka chapter. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. The protagonist generates concealing mist that breaks line of sight for enemies in the immediate radius.

Water Bend — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Water numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Ch 4 Bali yogic substrate engagement. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist manipulates ambient water at canonical area — redirecting precipitation, parting standing water, projecting water into shapes for utility purposes (dousing fires at canonical magnitude, irrigating temporarily, providing water access for parched companions). The Outer Order Water-state precursor that grounds the protagonist's vril-water relationship before deeper sub-form expressions unlock at Tier 4 and beyond.

Flow Redirect — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Water numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist channels existing water-current flow at canonical magnitude — redirects rivers and streams at spot scope for canonical traversal or terrain-shaping utility, deflects incoming projectiles through water-medium when ambient water is present (rain, mist, water surfaces nearby), and reverses water-current flow against canonical natural direction at sustained class. Distinct from Water Bend in operating on existing water-substrate flow rather than ambient-water shape manipulation. Canonical utility for crossing rivers without bridge construction and deflecting ranged hostile projectiles in canonical wet-substrate environments.

Moisture Draw — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Water numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Bidirectional Outer Order moisture-substrate manipulation. The protagonist may extract moisture from organic substrate (hydrates protagonist's water reserves at canonical replenishment magnitude, withers low-tier plants, applies mild dehydration damage to organic enemies) or distribute moisture to organic recipients (hydrates parched companions, saturates dry-substrate to counter Wildfire propagation per §5G.4 Fire-meets-Vegetation chain, heals plant-class allies at canonical magnitude). Player-input toggle directs flow direction at cast time. The canonical Outer Order utility distinct from Healing Current Tier 3 in operating on water-substrate distribution rather than vril-channel healing.

Cool Surge — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Water numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Ch 6 Sri Lanka chapter. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist projects a wave of cooled water-substrate at target area — sustained chill damage to enemies in the area plus thermal-state property change on water-medium constructs and ambient water (canonical Heat-meets-Ice interaction at §5G.4 routes through Cool Surge as the inverse of Fire-class incidence on Ice). The substrate-temperature-shift precursor that grounds the Ice Wall and Ice Pillar Tier 4 constructs in canonical state-change discipline.

Undertow Pull — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Fishing and Navigation trade numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Water-element grapple effect that pulls target toward the protagonist. Available in any environment with sufficient ambient water — coastal, riverine, marsh. The Fishing trade gates effective range.

Healing Current — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Ch 6 plus Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus L1 Truly Good or L2 Good Enough integrity band. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Water-channel single-target healing applied to allies. The integrity gate routes healing through the path-aligned compassion track; L4 and L5 access alternate Water mechanisms instead.

Drowning Grasp — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at L4 Evil or L5 Pure Evil integrity band plus Water-element numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist materializes water around a target's airways, applying suffocation damage and disabling spell-casting. The integrity gate enforces canonical path discipline.

Ice Wall — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Water numerical 50-69 Practicus plus Cool Surge mastery. Vril cost high. Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5E.1. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled (Water as Ice thirty to sixty seconds per §5E.4 with terrain-state modulation). Physical properties — heavy mass, moderate structural integrity, zero flammability, cold thermal state, low conductivity (ice substrate; melts to high-conductivity water if heat applied per §5G.4 Heat-meets-Ice), inert organic substrate. The protagonist constructs an ice barrier from ambient water-substrate that blocks line of sight and projectile path. Tropical and desert terrain reduce persistence to lower bound; arctic terrain extends to upper bound. Ice Walls in destabilization phase melt at greatly accelerated rate under any heat source per §5E.2 destabilization-vulnerability discipline.

Ice Pillar — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Water numerical 50-69 Practicus plus Cool Surge mastery. Vril cost high. Cast pattern charge\_hold. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled. Protagonist may stand atop the pillar, jump from pillar to pillar at Adeptus Minor mastery for parkour-class traversal across Ice Wall and Ice Pillar combinations, and reinforce at compounding cost per §5E.2. Ice Pillars on slopes carry kinetic-energy reservoir status; Pillar-meets-Slope cascade applies to ice-substrate at modified magnitude (ice pillars shatter rather than slide on destabilization).

Living Water — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Water numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5E.1. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled. Physical properties — medium mass (flowing fluid), low structural integrity, zero flammability, neutral thermal state (cool ambient), high conductivity, inert organic substrate. The protagonist constructs a sustained pure water-form construct distinct from Ice abilities at this tier. The construct flows around obstacles rather than blocking, absorbs incoming projectiles into its volume, and provides drinking water at canonical magnitude for protagonist and companions. Player may direct the construct's flow path through directional input at sustained-control class. Distinct from Ice Wall and Ice Pillar (rigid frozen-state constructs) and from Mist Screen (gaseous obscurement); Living Water is the canonical liquid-state construct that supports utility plus partial defensive interception.

Vril cost high (sustained-drain) for Ice Path mode plus separate vril cost medium (instant) for Frost Slide mode. Cast pattern sustained\_drain per §5D.1 for Ice Path traversal mode plus instant for Frost Slide combat-burst mode (single ability with two cast modes). Ice Path mode — the protagonist traverses across ground at sustained-drain mobility on a self-laying ice-track that persists briefly behind for ally traversal use. Surface-state failure mode applies per §5D.2 Ice-axis mobility risk pattern — tropical and desert terrain reduce cast effectiveness. Frost Slide mode — the protagonist projects a brief ice-burst beneath their feet for instant combat-mobility burst at canonical-magnitude displacement, leaving a brief ice-residue patch at origin. The dual-mode ability supports both protracted traversal (Ice Path) and combat-positioning (Frost Slide) through a single canonical mastery investment.

Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. The protagonist syncs combat tempo with ambient water-substrate tide rhythm at canonical magnitude — alternating between offensive water-projection and defensive water-redirect at canonical-canon oscillation rate without protagonist active-cast burden. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the canonical balance requirement of holding both forms at perfect equilibrium rather than collapsing to one. Distinct from Mirror Surface (L3 T7 substrate-state revelation) in being combat-tempo balance rather than perception revelation. The canonical Water combat-balance ability at mid-tier Philosophus depth.

Ocean Memory — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Fishing and Navigation numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Ch 55 Atacama Vimana activation. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant (substrate-perception activation). Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled (Fire ten to thirty seconds). Physical properties — zero mass, no structural integrity, high flammability propagation source, hot thermal state, low direct conductivity but ignites flammables, inert organic substrate. The protagonist generates a sustained burning trail along a canonical line — the trail propagates fire to adjacent flammable-tagged objects per §5G physics taxonomy and applies sustained burn damage to enemies crossing the trail. The canonical mobility-plus-construct combination ability — protagonist's traversal path becomes a sustained tactical fire hazard. Distinct from Fire Jet at Tier 4 in being passive trail deposit during normal traversal rather than active sustained-drain mobility.

Fire Jet — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Fire numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high (sustained-drain). Cast pattern sustained\_drain per §5D.1. The protagonist propels themselves through air on a sustained Fire jet at sustained-drain mobility class. Direction is player-input-dependent; vegetation-ignition collateral risk applies per §5D.2 Fire-axis mobility risk pattern — Fire Jet over dry vegetation triggers Wildfire chain per §5G.4 Fire-meets-Vegetation interaction. Drain rate moderate per §5D.1, supporting battlefield-magnitude vertical and horizontal traversal at canonical-canon range. The protagonist who masters Fire Jet operates at mobility scope unavailable to Wind Step single-cast burst.

Useful for canonical Ch 67 Pohjola polar-region cave navigation, Ch 21 China Oracle Bone tradition silent-light ritual, and canonical-magnitude L3 path-aligned no-impact lighting where Sacred Flame (L1-L2 purges negative consciousness) and Fire Bolt (L1-L5 burns) carry inappropriate path-alignment. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the canonical balance discipline of fire's consume-and-create nature held in equilibrium. Distinct from Sacred Flame at Tier 5 (path-locked L1-L2 purging) and Heat Aura at Tier 3 (low-intensity damage radius) in being pure-illumination utility.

Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5E.1 framework applied to offensive class. The protagonist materializes a vril-forged hammer construct in a charge-hold cast — release impact applies massive single-target damage with structural-failure cascade triggering against any wall-class construct in the impact zone per §5G.4 Force-meets-Wall pattern, plus ignition-status application from the heated metal. Charge-hold duration scales impact magnitude — full charge-hold delivers canonical-canon impact at substrate-peak Forge expression. Blacksmithing trade gates the hammer's structural integrity and impact magnitude.

Phoenix Strike — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Fire numerical 100 Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus Phoenix-line completion. Vril cost extreme. Cast pattern instant (mobility-plus-attack hybrid). The protagonist briefly transforms to Fire-state and traverses to target at canonical instant-translocation magnitude with attack-on-arrival damage application. Distinct from Astral Step Crown-seat translocation in that Phoenix Strike is offensive arrival not stealth-observation movement. The canonical preview of Phoenix Form Tier 7 transformation discipline — Phoenix Strike accesses brief Fire-state without the encounter-fatality regeneration cycle. Foundation ability that gates Phoenix Form access per the Fire-element capability questline progression.

Hearthsense — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Fire numerical 100 plus completion of the Phoenix-line canonical questline. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. Wind Deflect — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Air numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist generates a directional wind-shield that turns hostile projectiles aside at canonical-magnitude defensive utility — arrows, thrown objects, and lightweight magical projectiles deflect from canonical incoming-arc against the cast-direction air-shield. Distinct from Gust Push at Tier 1 in being defensive interception rather than offensive displacement; canonical Outer Order Air defense that supports ranged-engagement encounters without requiring full Cyclone (Tier 4\) or Storm Calling (Tier 5\) deployment.

Breath Hold — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Air numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. Bonded-Heart device ambient response per §5F.3 framework — the protagonist's breath-substrate control extends underwater endurance and toxic-atmosphere endurance at canonical magnitude. Pressure Wave — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Air numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. The protagonist projects a directed air-pressure wave at target — staggers enemies caught in the wave path at canonical magnitude, disorients enemies through pressure-substrate inner-ear disruption applying brief loss-of-balance status, and deflects active hostile projectiles in the wave path. Distinct from Gust Push at Tier 1 in canonical-magnitude pressure compression rather than displacement air-current, and from Wind Scar at Tier 3 in pressure-substrate stagger and disorient rather than edge-bleed offense. The canonical mid-tier Air offensive that bridges Tier 1 displacement utility and Tier 5 Storm Calling sustained area effect.

Wind Echo — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Air numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Air Read mastery. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief. The protagonist projects atmospheric vril-substrate listening at canonical extended range — reads atmospheric vril-disturbance patterns at canonical-magnitude distance beyond Air Read passive (Tier 2), perceives distant conversation through wind-substrate at canonical-magnitude range, and detects substrate-state markers (vril emissions, antagonist-family signatures, ally locator beacons) carried on atmospheric currents. Distinct from Air Read at Tier 2 in being active distant-perception cast rather than passive proximity ambient. The canonical mid-tier Air perception ability that supports investigation, eavesdropping, and antagonist tracking at Theoricus canonical depth.

Wind Walker — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Air numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high (sustained-drain). Cast pattern sustained\_drain per §5D.1. The protagonist sustains air-currents beneath their feet for canonical traversal at sustained mobility class — direction player-input-dependent; fall-damage-on-misjudgment failure mode applies per Air-axis mobility risk pattern at sustained vertical traversal. Drain rate is highest among the four mobility-class elements per §5D.1 (Air supports brief sustained mobility, not protracted), making Wind Walker the canonical tactical mobility for combat-positioning rather than chapter-spanning traversal. Foundation for the multi-axis mobility chaining at Adeptus Major (Wind Walker into Mini Cyclone Lift into Earth Surf at sustained sequence).

Mini Cyclone Lift — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Air numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5D.1 timing-window discipline. The protagonist generates a brief vertical cyclone beneath their feet for canonical vertical lift — release at the apex of the charge produces full vertical lift; release early produces a muted hop; release late dissipates the cast with vril spent. Skill-and-timing-driven mobility class. The canonical vertical-lift companion to Earth Pillar charge-hold parkour and Wind Step horizontal burst — the protagonist combines Mini Cyclone Lift with Earth Pillar parkour for canonical-magnitude vertical traversal.

Cyclone — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Air-element numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern charge\_hold per §5E.1 with sustained-control extension. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled (Air one to ten seconds per §5E.4 — uncontrolled cyclone collapses inside one second; sustained-control cyclone persists up to ten seconds under active protagonist directional input). Physical properties — low mass (air), moderate structural integrity (sustained vortex resists single-point disruption but yields to large-scale interruption), zero flammability of the construct itself but carries-and-spreads fire applied to its volume, neutral thermal state (cool ambient unless fused), moderate conductivity at Cyclone-fusion-Lightning state, inert organic substrate. Area-of-effect wind vortex that displaces and damages enemies caught in the radius. Active-control directional steering enables canonical Cyclone-fusion mechanic where the vortex carries another active ability's element through its volume — Cyclone fused with Fire incidence becomes Fire Cyclone, fused with Lightning becomes Plasma Cyclone, fused with Poison becomes Poison Cyclone Tier 5\.

Soaring Glide — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Air numerical 50-69 Practicus plus Wind Walker mastery. Vril cost high (sustained-drain). Cast pattern sustained\_drain per §5D.1. The protagonist sustains a horizontal-glide trajectory at sustained mobility class for canonical long-distance traversal — the canonical glide-traversal mobility distinct from Wind Walker (omnidirectional sustained mobility) and Cyclone Cradle (Tier 7 hovering sustained vortex). Soaring Glide trades vertical-control flexibility for horizontal-distance efficiency at canonical drain-rate moderate per §5D.1 (lower drain than Wind Walker through canonical horizontal-energy conservation). Direction is player-input-dependent within canonical glide-arc constraints; fall-damage-on-altitude-loss failure mode applies. The canonical chapter-spanning Air mobility for canonical-magnitude horizontal traversal across canonical extended terrain regions.

Poison Cyclone — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Air-element numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Herbalism numerical 50-69 Practicus plus Alchemy numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern charge\_hold with sustained-control extension. Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled. Air plus Poison combo — a vortex of herbalism-derived toxic compounds. Performed solo by a player with mastery in both elements, or in cooperation with an Alchemist player applying the Poison element via combo to another player's Air. The canonical co-op signature ability surfacing in the world boss opening sequences.

Breath of Life — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L1 Truly Good integrity band plus Vril Healing capability at Tier 5 Philosophus depth. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Single-target revival ability — restores a downed ally to combat consciousness with reduced vitality. The integrity gate enforces canonical path discipline; the L4 and L5 evil paths access alternate revival mechanics through different element routing.

Storm Calling — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Air-element numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Water-element numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Fishing and Navigation numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost very high. Cast pattern instant (sustained ambient effect). Persistence class sustained. Air plus Water environmental control — the protagonist summons localized storm conditions affecting visibility, terrain traction, and enemy movement penalties.

Equipoise — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L3 Drifting integrity band plus Air numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. The protagonist's canonical position holds stable against external force at canonical magnitude — projectile knockback cancels, gust displacement cancels, terrain shift cancels, push-and-pull combat effects (Undertow Pull, Magnetic Pull, sandstorm displacement) cancel at sustained passive class. Distinct from Freedom Form (L3 T8 movement enhancement passive) in being position-stabilization rather than mobility amplification. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the canonical balance requirement of holding canonical position regardless of external pressure direction. The canonical Air defensive-balance passive at Philosophus depth.

Skybreath — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Air numerical 100 plus completion of the canonical Wind questline. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. The protagonist passively perceives atmospheric-substrate variation at canonical extended range — surface markers include atmospheric pressure shift forecasts at canonical-magnitude advance time, Velheim aerial vessel detection (canonical antagonist airships at later chapters), airborne vril-substrate state across canonical regional weather systems, and substrate-state markers carried on atmospheric currents at canonical-canon distance beyond Air Read T2 plus Wind Echo T3 active range. Distinct from Air Read at Tier 2 (close-proximity atmospheric vril patterns) and Wind Echo at Tier 3 (active distant atmospheric listening) in being passive canonical-magnitude atmospheric perception across substrate-state and entity-state dimensions. The Air Adeptus Minor questline canonical Adept-initiation event.

Cyclone Cradle — Tier 7 Adeptus Major. Unlock at Air numerical 100 Adeptus Minor plus Cyclone mastery plus Wind Walker mastery plus Mini Cyclone Lift mastery. Vril cost extreme (sustained-drain at canonical-canon rate). Cast pattern sustained\_drain. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes under active control. The canonical single exception to the §5D.2 mobility-suspends-combat-availability rule — the protagonist sits atop a sustained vortex protected from ground-melee proximity and retains full cast availability for Air-element abilities, base-element ability casts at orthogonal directions, and dialogue exchange. Available only at Inner Order Air mastery depth per §5D.2 framework. The canonical Inner Order mobility expression that earns its tier at battlefield-magnitude tactical control; the protagonist becomes the elevated battle-controller while sustaining the vortex against ground-bound enemy movement.

Freedom Form — Tier 8 Adeptus Exemptus. Unlock at L3 Drifting integrity band plus Air-element numerical 100 Adeptus Minor plus completion of the canonical Wind questline. Vril cost extreme (sustained\_drain). Cast pattern sustained\_drain per §5D.1. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes under active control. An Air-state transformation the protagonist toggles on — the protagonist's body thins to a wind-substrate state and the protagonist phases through solid constructs, hostile bodies, and physical attacks in the phase-plane, passing bodily through a Stone Wall, an enemy's guard, a closing melee swing, or a collapsing-debris volume without collision while the drain sustains. The protagonist cannot be grappled, displaced, or struck by physical-class incidence during the phase, and moves omnidirectionally at sustained-drain traversal including vertical and through-terrain lines that Wind Walker and Soaring Glide cannot cross. Air-class casts remain available through the phase; Earth-class, Water-as-Ice-class, and other mass-bearing casts suspend for the phase duration, and the protagonist cannot pick up, carry, or physically manipulate objects while thinned. Distinct from Equipoise at Tier 5 (L3 position-stabilization that holds ground against force) in being force-avoidance through intangible traversal rather than force-cancellation from a held stance, and from Cyclone Cradle at Tier 7 (elevated protected vortex) in passing through the battlefield rather than commanding it from above. The L3 gate reflects the ability's canonical balance requirement — the freedom to be touched by nothing is held in canonical equilibrium, neither fleeing the world nor imposing on it.

Voice of the World — Tier 8 Adeptus Exemptus. Unlock at L1 Truly Good integrity band plus SQ7 Music Theory advanced questline plus Air-element numerical 100 Adeptus Minor. Vril cost very high. Cast pattern instant (sustained tonal projection). The protagonist produces a sustained tone at frequencies that disrupt negative consciousness manifestation. The mechanic is disruption rather than damage — entities lose coherence and must retreat or dissolve. The most powerful non-combat ability in the game; available only at the highest L1 Truly Good integrity threshold.

§11.5 Ether — Throat Vril-seat

Throat vril-seat position. Necklace equipment slot. Voice, illusion, social influence, dialogue impact. The Throat vril-seat opens at Ch 56-57 forced bonding per §10.3 but base voice-substrate capability exists from canonical first encounters with social complexity at Ch 2-3. Throat abilities span four canonical purposes per §16.3 dialogue impact framework — combat (illusion deployment, confusion mechanics), mechanics (stealth misdirection, vocal projection), dialogue (vocal bias, true voice substrate-frequency speech), and utility (Cloaking, Optical Occlusion). Each Throat ability serves a canonical distinct purpose; the vril-seat does not stack overlapping social-influence abilities.

Entrance — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 3 Manggarai social mechanics. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — social. The protagonist briefly biases NPC reactions through vril-tinted social presence. Used to influence first-encounter NPC disposition; perceptive NPCs (high Wisdom or substrate-perception capability per Reading A) register the projection and respond per their substrate-state at the moment of registration.

Cloaking — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 2 instinctive escape sequence. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — stealth utility. The protagonist subtly alters their visual signature, becoming difficult to register for non-perceptive observers. Effective on guards, common NPCs, and animals; ineffective against substrate-perception capable NPCs (Throat-bonded antagonist family vessels, Crown-bonded allies, vril-detection technology).

Vocal Bias — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Throat numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Ch 3 Manggarai social mechanics. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief (single dialogue exchange). Canonical purpose — dialogue mechanic per §16.3. The protagonist applies vril-tinted vocal substrate to a single dialogue line that subtly biases the listening NPC's response toward the protagonist's intent at canonical magnitude. Distinct from Entrance at Tier 1 (sustained social presence affecting initial disposition) in being single-line dialogue-active modulation. Substrate-perceptive NPCs register the bias attempt and may resist; canonical Truth Speak L1-L2 dialogue options unaffected by Vocal Bias since Truth Speak operates at substrate-frequency rather than vril-tinted projection.

Voice Throw — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Throat numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Cloaking mastery. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief. Canonical purpose — stealth and misdirection mechanic. The protagonist projects a vocal signature at canonical distance from their actual location — generates footsteps, conversation snippets, or alarm calls at a chosen direction at canonical magnitude. Enemy NPCs investigate the projected location, drawing them away from the protagonist's actual position. Distinct from Cloaking at Tier 1 (visual concealment) in being directional-misdirection auditory mechanic. The canonical Throat utility for stealth-class encounter navigation at Outer Order canonical depth.

Illusion — Single Target — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Ch 15 astral projection discovery. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — combat utility. The protagonist projects a vril-illusion to a single target — a phantom companion, an enemy duplicate, or an environmental feature that does not actually exist. The target perceives the illusion as real until proximate physical interaction or substrate-perception activation reveals the trick.

Confusion Aura — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Throat numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — combat AoE social-debuff. The protagonist generates a sustained ambient confusion-aura within canonical proximity radius — enemies in the aura suffer reduced target-priority decision-making, friendly-fire risk against their own allies, and degraded coordination with other antagonist forces in the area. Distinct from Illusion Single Target at Tier 3 (specific phantom projection to one target) in being sustained area-magnitude social-substrate disruption affecting all enemies in proximity. The canonical Throat combat ability that supports protagonist tactical advantage in multi-enemy encounters at Practicus canonical depth.

True Cloak — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Throat numerical 50-69 Practicus plus Cloaking and Voice Throw mastery. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — stealth against substrate-perceptive enemies. The protagonist generates a sustained vril-cloak that conceals visual, auditory, and substrate-state signatures — effective against substrate-perception capable NPCs (Throat-bonded antagonist family vessels, vril-detection technology, Crown-perceptive allies on opposing factions) at canonical magnitude. Distinct from Cloaking at Tier 1 (visual-only concealment ineffective against substrate perception) in being multi-channel concealment that addresses the canonical antagonist-family detection capability surfacing at Ch 23 Persia onward. The canonical Throat stealth that supports infiltration of antagonist-family-controlled regions at Practicus canonical depth.

Illusion — Multiple — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Throat numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — combat utility (mass deception). The protagonist projects illusions to multiple targets simultaneously. Path-locked at L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil integrity bands — the canonical mass-deception use case is canonical evil-path social engineering rather than canonical compassion-path approach. L1-L3 protagonists access alternate Throat capabilities at this tier through different mechanism routing.

Optical Occlusion — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Cloaking-line numerical 70-99 plus Inscription numerical 50-69. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — stealth AoE (party-wide concealment). The protagonist extends the Cloaking effect to allies in the immediate area, creating a temporary stealth zone for coordinated movement. The Inscription trade gates the area's stability against substrate-perception detection.

Witness Voice — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L3 Drifting integrity band plus Throat numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Inscription numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief (single dialogue exchange). Canonical purpose — dialogue balance per §16.3. The protagonist speaks observed facts at canonical magnitude without integrity-aligned framing — NPCs hearing receive information without protagonist's persuasive bias, and the protagonist may not in the same dialogue exchange use any other Throat-substrate dialogue ability (Vocal Bias, True Voice). Distinct from True Voice at Tier 7 (L1-locked substrate-frequency reveals truth at canonical magnitude affecting NPC perception of protagonist's integrity and situation) in being neutral-state observed-fact transmission without substrate-frequency reveal. The L3 Drifting gate reflects canonical witness-discipline — neither persuading toward action nor compelling toward inaction, just transmitting canonical observation.

True Voice — Tier 7 Adeptus Major. Unlock at Inscription numerical 100 plus Throat numerical 100 plus L1 Truly Good integrity band. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — dialogue (substrate-frequency speech revealing truth per §16.3). The protagonist speaks at substrate-frequency that cuts through deception, vril-corruption, and antagonist-family mind-influence. NPCs hearing True Voice perceive the protagonist's actual integrity at the moment of speaking, the actual situation surrounding the conversation, and any operating influence affecting their judgment. True Voice does not force NPCs to comply with the protagonist's intent — NPCs retain canonical agency and may choose to act against truth-revealed perception per their canonical substrate-state. The mechanic surfaces canonical clarity rather than canonical compulsion.

Inner Voice — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Throat numerical 100 plus completion of the canonical SQ7 Music Theory canonical Adeptus Minor questline plus voice-trade-compound integration. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. The protagonist passively perceives substrate-frequency variation at canonical extended range — surface markers include vocal substrate manipulation detection (lies registered as canonical-magnitude substrate-frequency mismatch, vril-tinted social influence detection at canonical reading depth, antagonist-family voice control technology detection), self-substrate-frequency perception for canonical truth-of-self awareness, and detection of NPC integrity-band shifts during dialogue exchange. Distinct from True Voice at Tier 7 (active substrate-frequency speech revealing truth to listeners) in being passive canonical-magnitude perception of substrate-frequency variation in others and self. The Throat Adeptus Minor questline canonical Adept-initiation event.

§11.6 Ether — Third Eye Vril-seat

Third Eye vril-seat position. Headpiece equipment slot. Perception, time-substrate, vril-sight, intent-reading. The Third Eye vril-seat opens at Ch 38 Azores forced bonding per §10.3 but base perception capability exists from the protagonist's first vril-substrate engagement at Ch 15 Egypt tomb-artifact discovery. Third Eye abilities span four canonical purposes — passive ambient perception, active substrate perception, time-substrate perception, and combat-perception integration. Each Third Eye ability serves a canonical distinct perception purpose; the vril-seat does not stack overlapping vril-sight abilities.

Intuition Pulse — Tier 1 Neophyte. Unlock at Ch 15 tomb artifact discovery. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. Canonical purpose — passive ambient perception. The protagonist becomes sensitive to vril-concentration variations in the environment without active detection — automatic surface alerts on canonical-magnitude substrate-state markers. The earliest Third Eye capability surfaces from the canonical Ch 15 ancient-substrate engagement.

Vril Sight — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Intuition Pulse numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Ch 15 Egypt activation. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — active substrate perception. The protagonist sees vril concentrations and currents at surface-state perception. The Adeptus Minor questline at Tier 6 unlocks the deep-substrate canonical depth — Vril Sight at T2 surfaces ambient vril patterns; the T6 substrate-perception threshold reveals canonical past-event substrate inscriptions, antagonist-family vessel substrate-state, and canonical-magnitude vril-event imprints per Reading A canonical depth-progression discipline.

Temporal Echo — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Ch 21 China Oracle Bone tradition encounter. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief. Canonical purpose — past-event perception. The protagonist reads vibrational imprints of past events at the current location — recent struggles, recent vril-class casts, recent identity-substrate signatures. Canonical investigation utility distinct from Vril Sight at Tier 2 (current-state substrate perception) in being past-state imprint reading.

Precognitive Flicker — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Third Eye numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. Canonical purpose — combat premonition. The protagonist surfaces brief premonitions during combat at canonical-magnitude — incoming hostile actions register approximately one-half second before execution at canonical proximity, allowing the protagonist subtle pre-positioning advantage. Distinct from Probability Sight at Tier 5 L3-locked (full probability-vector visualization for canonical balance-track combat) in being passive single-action canonical premonition without integrity-band path-lock. The canonical mid-tier Third Eye combat capability that supports canonical combat-perception advantage at Practicus canonical depth without requiring L3 Drifting integrity-track commitment.

Vril Trail — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Third Eye numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost medium. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — investigation and tracking utility. The protagonist actively detects vril-residue traces from recent ability casts and vril-substrate events within canonical extended range — surface markers include cast direction, approximate cast-tier, approximate identity-substrate of caster, and canonical time-decay information (recent versus elapsed cast). Distinct from Temporal Echo at Tier 3 (past-event vibrational imprints at current location) in being directional-trace investigation following vril-residue across canonical region. The canonical mid-tier Third Eye investigation capability that supports canonical antagonist tracking, ally locator, and investigation-class quest mechanics at Practicus canonical depth.

Intent Reading — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Third Eye numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. Canonical purpose — NPC-state perception. Passive ability that surfaces NPC emotional state, vril-polarity alignment, and current-intention vector at canonical magnitude. The Herbalism trade gates accuracy and resistance to false-projection from substrate-aware NPCs.

Probability Sight — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Ch 38 Azores plus Third Eye numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus L3 Drifting integrity band. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — combat-probability L3 path-locked. The protagonist perceives short-horizon probability vectors during combat — effectively previewing enemy attack patterns approximately one second before execution. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the ability's canonical balance requirement; canonical L1 protagonists access Precognitive Flicker (T4 passive premonition) and canonical L4-L5 access alternate combat-perception through different element routing.

Substrate Perception — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Third Eye numerical 100 plus Vril Sight at canonical Adeptus Minor mastery progression plus completion of the canonical ancient-substrate engagement questline. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. The canonical Adeptus Minor substrate-perception threshold per §11.6 — passive activation that elevates Vril Sight at Tier 2 from surface-state perception to deep-substrate canonical depth. Surface markers include past-event substrate inscriptions readable at canonical-magnitude age (vril-trace events thousands of years old surface as canonical canon), antagonist-family vessel substrate-state detection regardless of distance within canonical region, canonical-magnitude vril-event imprints (battle sites, sacrifice sites, Vimana activation residues, integrity-cascade events) read at canonical canon clarity. Per Reading A canonical depth-progression discipline locked at Phase 5E. The Third Eye Adeptus Minor questline canonical Adept-initiation event.

Vril cost very high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. Canonical purpose — past-and-future-state substrate perception. The protagonist perceives past states of locations and probable future states of action consequences. Required at canonical climactic Ch 76-77 inscription document interpretation — the Velheim Codex authentic-fragment dating, antagonist-family operation timeline reconstruction, and protagonist intervention probability calibration. Most powerful perception ability in the game.

§11.7 Ether — Crown-seat

Crown vril-seat position. Helmet equipment slot. Transcendence and Connection sub-category. Ether-class abilities at the Crown engage consciousness directly — astral projection, vril healing, vril sharing, and the player-choice orthogonal-progression vril-seat per the Reading A standard-progression vril-seat mechanic.

The Crown vril-seat is one of the three forced Ether bindings per §10.3. Device 1 acquired at Ch 15 Egypt bonds to Crown by structural canonical match — Astral Projection plus Item Rift unlock at Ch 15 are Crown-seat abilities, and the canonical tomb artifact event is the Crown device acquisition beat. Crown receives EAM device infusion across all playthroughs and is never the standard-progression vril-seat under the canonical device-bonding architecture.

Astral Projection — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Ch 15 Egypt tomb artifact activation. Vril cost high. The protagonist's consciousness separates from the physical body and moves freely through space within a vril-bounded radius. Cannot be detected by most NPCs. Cannot interact with physical objects — observation, inscription reading, and vril-signature perception only. Velheim family vessels at high vril mastery can detect Astral Projection per T4\_House\_of\_Velheim\_Canonical. Duration limited by vril capacity at the active tier; extended at the trinket slot per the Ch 15 tomb artifact equipment integration. Universal access; integrity affects the visual signature that perceptive observers register.

Vril Healing — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at L1 Truly Good or L2 Good Enough integrity band plus Ch 6 Sri Lanka chapter. Vril cost medium. Single-target vril-channel healing applied to the protagonist or an ally. The integrity gate routes healing through the path-aligned compassion track; L4 and L5 access the alternate Soul Drain capability instead per the integrity-gated Ether-Crown branching.

Vril Revival — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L1 Truly Good or L2 Good Enough integrity band plus Vril Healing numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. Single-target revival ability — a downed ally returns to combat consciousness with reduced vitality. Integrity gate per CVD §17.4; the canonical compassion-track depth requirement gates the ability.

Vril Mass Revival — Tier 7 Adeptus Major. Unlock at L1 Truly Good integrity band plus Vril Revival numerical 100 Adeptus Minor. Vril cost extreme. Multi-target revival — all downed allies within range return to combat consciousness simultaneously. Integrity gate per the canonical compassion-track depth requirement at Adeptus Minor and beyond.

Item Rift — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Ch 15 Egypt tomb artifact activation. Vril cost low. The protagonist accesses a vril-folded inventory pocket — a personal storage dimension allowing item retrieval and storage across regions. The canonical inventory mechanic surfacing per the tomb artifact's permanent capability addition.

Vril Communion — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L1 Truly Good integrity band plus Trade 1 Animal Communication numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Crown numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. The protagonist projects vril-consciousness across the species barrier — direct communication with familiars, regional fauna, and conscious vegetation per Trade 1 Animal Communication mastery routing. The integrity gate reflects the canonical species-respect discipline at compassion-track depth.

Soul Drain — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L4 Evil or L5 Pure Evil integrity band plus Crown numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. The protagonist extracts vril vitality from a target, converting the extraction into personal vril regeneration and temporary attribute boost. Path-locked per CVD §17.4. The substrate-state shift accumulates negative vril at the Crown vril-seat position per the operational manifestation per T4\_House\_of\_Velheim\_Canonical Crown-position antagonist sector mapping.

Dimension Pocket — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Crown numerical 100 plus completion of the canonical Crown Adeptus Minor questline plus integrity-band canonical scaling per §13 mirrored 5-band. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. The protagonist opens canonical access to a personal astral sub-space — the Personal Dimension. Sub-space provides creature housing for canonical 200+ companion creatures bonded through Trade 1 Animal Communication or Vril Communion at canonical-canon containment scope, garden cultivation space without canonical real-world growth-rate constraints, and home-construction space without canonical building-permit or terrain-stability constraints. The Personal Dimension is integrity-visible per canonical T1\_Personal\_Dimension\_Spec — L1 Truly Good protagonists access verdant-light substrate, L4-L5 Evil access shadow-substrate variants, L3 Drifting access neutral-grey balance state. Sub-space access gates at Adeptus Minor canonical questline; spec details and canonical interaction patterns defer to T1\_Personal\_Dimension\_Spec post-book-processing. The Crown Adeptus Minor questline canonical Adept-initiation event.

Equilibrium Soul — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at L3 Drifting integrity band plus Crown numerical 100 plus completion of the canonical Crown Adeptus Minor questline. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. Persistence class permanent. The protagonist's vril-substrate self-stabilizes between integrity extremes — sustained L3 Drifting band lock at canonical-magnitude resistance against integrity drift bleed-through during heavy combat, dialogue exchange, or canonical chapter-spanning narrative pressure. The L3 protagonist who masters Equilibrium Soul holds canonical neutral state across the canonical 5,000-year arc without canonical drift-decay applied at chapter transitions. Distinct from Dimension Pocket at Tier 6 (Personal Dimension access utility) and Vril Communion at Tier 5 (cross-species canonical communion) in being canonical-substrate self-maintenance. The L3 Drifting Crown Adeptus Minor questline canonical anchor.

Collective Surge — Tier 7 Adeptus Major. Unlock at L1 Truly Good integrity band plus Ch 70-77 fairy-realm phase plus all healing-class abilities at Adeptus Minor or higher. Vril cost extreme. Cast pattern instant (establishes sustained link). Persistence class sustained under active maintenance. The protagonist opens a shared vril-conduit binding every ally in range into one pooled Crown-substrate network — while the link holds, any ally may spend from the shared pool rather than their own vril, one ally's healing-class cast routes through the conduit to reach every linked ally at once, and an ability cast by any linked ally may be relayed and re-expressed from another linked ally's position, so a single Bloom Pulse, Vril Mass Revival, or Storm Calling propagates across the whole formation from wherever the network's members stand. The protagonist chooses each moment whether to lend the pool, draw from it, or relay a cast, and the link dissolves when the protagonist releases it or moves out of range. Distinct from Vril Communion at Tier 5 (cross-species consciousness projection to a single non-human interlocutor) in being a same-side multi-ally vril-sharing network, and from Vril Mass Revival at Tier 7 (one-shot mass restoration cast) in being a persistent conduit that carries many casts rather than a single revival event. The Crown-seat expression of the game's connection thesis rendered as a mechanic — the protagonist does not make allies stronger, the protagonist makes them one. Integrity gate enforces canonical compassion-track depth; the shared conduit is a compassion-track capability and does not open on the predation-track paths.

Void Command — Tier 8 Adeptus Exemptus. Unlock at L5 Pure Evil integrity band plus Crown numerical 151-199 Adeptus Exemptus plus all evil-path Tier 5 Philosophus abilities completed. Vril cost extreme. The evil-path Crown ability — the protagonist directs negative consciousness manifestations as summons rather than enemies. The protagonist who reaches Void Command has accepted negative consciousness access at the depth the antagonist family operates. The ability functions; it is powerful. The canonical narrative cost per CVD §17.9 is that the Grand Sage stops appearing on the protagonist's path. Path-locked terminal-tier Evil canonical capability.

§11.8 Lightning — Trade 8 Engineering

The Inscription cross-trade gate reflects the resonance-pattern reading required to target the structural element accurately.

Resonance Match — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L3 Drifting integrity band plus Engineering numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. The protagonist tunes a sustained electromagnetic field to match incoming hostile EM-substrate at canonical-magnitude neutralization — antagonist-family electronic attacks, lightning-class projectiles, Tesla-tradition disruption attempts cancel at sustained resonance class. Distinct from Tesla Field at Tier 5 (L1-L5 disrupts enemy coordination) in being neither offensive nor cooperative but substrate-matching neutralization. The L3 Drifting gate reflects the canonical balance discipline of EM-substrate held in canonical equilibrium. The canonical Lightning defensive-balance ability at Engineering Philosophus mastery.

Field Sense — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor. Unlock at Engineering numerical 100 plus completion of the Wardenclyffe canonical Adeptus Minor questline. Vril cost passive. Cast pattern passive. An area-of-effect pulse that disables all electronic systems within range. The modern-world's most powerful environmental combat capability. The antagonist family's modern operational infrastructure is entirely electronic per T4\_House\_of\_Velheim\_Canonical Modern World operational manifestation. Electromagnetic Pulse is the specific capability the Ch 46 Area 51 astral infiltration sequence is designed to avoid triggering during stealth approach.

§11.9 Poison — Trade 4 Herbalism plus Trade 5 Alchemy

Poison element is unlocked through combined Trade 4 Herbalism and Trade 5 Alchemy mastery. Resource-based rather than vril-based — Poison-element abilities consume crafted reagents rather than expending vril at activation. Poison reagents craft via Herbalism and Alchemy mastery and store in Item Rift inventory.

Reagent Mix — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Herbalism numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Alchemy numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost low. Resource cost (basic herbal-substrate components from canonical foraging or trade purchase). Cast pattern instant (synthesis ritual). Persistence class stored compound. The protagonist synthesizes basic alchemical compounds at canonical Outer Order depth — basic toxin doses for Toxin Application at Tier 3, basic curative reagents for Healing Current at Tier 3, basic neutralization compounds for ambient toxin clearing utility. Stored compounds carry sustained class without active vril maintenance and may be applied at canonical canon utility moments. Distinct from Toxin Application at Tier 3 (active weapon-application of stored toxin) in being canonical-magnitude compound creation rather than canonical application. The canonical Outer Order Herbalism plus Alchemy entry that grounds the protagonist's reagent-substrate relationship before deeper Inner Order alchemy expressions unlock at Tier 5 and beyond.

Persistence class sustained. The protagonist sustains an ambient poison-substrate radius at canonical melee proximity — enemies within the radius take sustained poison damage at canonical magnitude, and ranged enemies firing through the radius pass canonical-magnitude vril-substrate corruption status to projectiles in flight. Distinct from Paralytic Cloud at Tier 3 (deployed area-of-effect dispersal at canonical chosen-position) in being body-emitted ambient radius traveling with the protagonist. The canonical mid-tier Poison defensive ability that bridges Tier 3 deployed AoE and Tier 5 Inner Order specialized expressions.

Curative Reversal — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L1 Truly Good or L2 Good Enough integrity band plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Resource cost — high-grade alchemy reagent. The protagonist applies a Curative Reversal compound to a poisoned ally, reversing toxin effect and restoring vitality. Integrity gate enforces canonical compassion-track routing; L4 and L5 access alternate Poison applications instead.

Corruption Spread — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at L4 Evil or L5 Pure Evil integrity band plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 50-69 Practicus. Resource cost — corrupted alchemical compound. Resource cost (high-grade dual-purpose alchemical compound) from Poison resource pool. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief. The protagonist applies an alchemical compound that acts as poison or antidote based on the target's substrate-state at canonical magnitude — substrate-aware reagent identifies appropriate response without protagonist intent override. A poisoned target receives antidote effect; a healthy target receives mild poison; an L3-state target receives neutral resonance. Distinct from Curative Reversal at Tier 5 (L1-L2 path-locked toxin-reversal) and Corruption Spread at Tier 5 (L4-L5 path-locked toxin-amplification) in being neutral-state substrate-responsive bidirectional alchemy. The L3 Drifting gate reflects canonical balance discipline of letting target substrate-state determine outcome rather than protagonist intent.

Unlock at Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 100 Adeptus Minor plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 100 Adeptus Minor plus completion of the canonical Tamil Siddha questline at Ch 7 South India Trade 4 first-home Tier 5 Philosophus Portal Grade depth. Resource cost passive. The protagonist's toxin applications gain extended duration, increased potency, and combination-effect unlocks across all Poison-class abilities. The canonical Trade 4 plus Trade 5 cross-mastery integration capability surfacing at the Adeptus Minor compound mastery threshold.

§11.10 Vegetation — Trade 4 Herbalism

Vegetation element is unlocked through Trade 4 Herbalism mastery alone — distinct from Poison element which requires the Herbalism plus Alchemy combination. Belt equipment slot enhancement at the Solar Plexus vril-seat position. Vegetation-class abilities engage living plant matter as combat substrate, healing channel, and environmental tactical layer.

Plant Call — Tier 2 Zelator. Unlock at Herbalism numerical 10-29 Zelator plus Animal Communication numerical 10-29 Zelator. Vril cost low. Cast pattern instant. Persistence class brief. The protagonist calls nearby plant matter to canonical cooperation at canonical magnitude — plants part for traversal path through dense vegetation, bloom for fruit and seed and medicinal harvest, signal vegetation-aware NPCs (canonical Druidic-tradition allies, canonical Sylvan-realm intelligences, canonical Bodhi-tradition contemplatives) of the protagonist's vegetation-substrate vril alignment. Distinct from Entangle at Tier 4 (active restraint construct from local plant matter) and Forest Call at Tier 5 (L1-L2 calls regional fauna and conscious vegetation as combat allies) in being canonical Outer Order canonical cooperation utility without combat-cast cycle. The canonical Outer Order Herbalism plus Animal Communication entry that grounds the protagonist's vegetation-substrate relationship before deeper expressions unlock.

Entangle — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost medium. Living plant matter at the protagonist's vicinity restrains a target — vines, roots, or grass-bind effect at appropriate environment. Effective in any biome with living vegetation; reduced effectiveness in arid or arctic environments per atmospheric-substrate availability.

Living Shield — Tier 4 Practicus. Unlock at Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost medium. The protagonist summons a temporary living-vegetation barrier that absorbs incoming projectile and area-of-effect damage. Duration scales with Herbalism trade mastery.

Persistence class charge\_hold\_scaled. Physical properties — medium mass, moderate structural integrity (scales with Herbalism tier), moderate flammability (vegetation substrate), neutral thermal state, low conductivity, organic substrate (the construct itself is the organic). The protagonist constructs a sustained vegetation-construct ambulatory ally at canonical magnitude — the Walker fights at the protagonist's side at canonical canon, follows directional input through Animal Communication trade gating, and persists until vril exhausts or the construct destroys at canonical-magnitude damage threshold. Distinct from Living Shield at Tier 4 (defensive vegetation barrier) in being autonomous combat ally rather than passive defensive construct, and from Forest Call at Tier 5 (L1-L2 summons existing fauna and conscious vegetation) in being protagonist-constructed vegetation-form rather than canonical-magnitude existing-ally invocation. The canonical mid-tier Vegetation combat ally that bridges the Tier 4 defensive constructs and the Tier 5 Inner Order expressions.

Cast pattern instant. Persistence class sustained. The protagonist summons a vegetation-bonded ally at canonical magnitude with give-and-take canonical balance — bonded ally provides healing-and-nutrient at sustained class to protagonist while consuming protagonist's vital reserve in matched canonical magnitude. Sustained mutual exchange neither helps nor harms net at canonical canon — the bond holds the protagonist at canonical-magnitude equilibrium during sustained engagement. Distinct from Living Shield at Tier 4 (defensive vegetation construct without exchange) and Forest Call at Tier 5 (L1-L2 calls fauna and conscious vegetation as ally) in being canonical-balance mutual-exchange substrate. The L3 Drifting gate reflects canonical balance discipline of give-and-take at canonical-canon equality.

Vril cost extreme. The protagonist temporarily embodies a vril-rooted axis manifestation drawing on the Yggdrasil, Bodhi Tree, and Tree of Life canonical traditions per T1\_World\_Geography\_Master fairy-realm geography. The protagonist becomes briefly rooted and cannot move; in exchange, the protagonist projects vril healing to all allies within an extended radius, reads all vibrational imprints in the area simultaneously, and projects the Grand Sage's presence to all friendly NPCs nearby. The most visually spectacular ability in the game; the protagonist is stationary and combat-vulnerable for the duration. Integrity gate at L1 Truly Good reflects the canonical highest-compassion-track requirement per CVD §17.9 show-don't-tell discipline applied at climactic depth.

§12. Layer B Combo Catalog

Layer B combos are ultimates per §5G.6 distinction from physics-driven chains. Where physics chains emerge automatically when base-element abilities meet compatible substrate (Lightning into water, Fire into vegetation, force into wall), Layer B combos are deliberate dual-base casts that engage canonical combo cooldown, consume vril from both contributing base pools, and produce battlefield effects neither base produces alone or through physics chain. Combos are the rare-cast battle-changers; physics chains are the moment-to-moment expression. The protagonist who masters base-element physics chaining at high tier plus deploys Layer B combos at canonical-magnitude moments expresses canonical mastery surface neither mechanism alone provides.

The 21 canonical combos cover the eight-element cross-product. Six base-pair combos draw from the four base elements taken two-at-a-time (Earth+Water, Earth+Fire, Earth+Air, Water+Fire, Water+Air, Fire+Air). Twelve vril-seat-plus-trade-element combos pair each of the four base elements with each of the three trade-unlocked elements (Lightning, Poison, Vegetation). Three trade-trade combos pair the trade-unlocked elements with each other (Lightning+Poison, Lightning+Vegetation, Poison+Vegetation).

Each combo carries five canonical tags applied at v1.2 framework lock. Character classifies the combo's primary battlefield function across the §5G.7 schema enum — heal, damage, utility, terrain\_reshape, control, or hybrid. Some combos carry secondary character; hybrid tag applies only when the combo expresses two or more characters at canonical-magnitude rather than primary-plus-flavor. Utility statement names the canonical capability neither contributing base provides through physics chain or single-element cast — this is the design-justification anchor that prevents Layer B from collapsing into "two abilities at once." Cooldown class applies the four-class taxonomy locked at Phase 5G-4-B — Short for intra-encounter recovery (not used at Layer B), Medium for encounter-bounded approximately two-to-five minute real-time recovery (Tier 3 Theoricus combo onset), Long for encounter-spanning approximately ten-to-twenty minute recovery (Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced combos), Very Long for chapter-spanning approximately one-plus-in-game-day recovery (Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak combos). Persistence class applies the §5G.7 schema enum — instant, brief, sustained, charge\_hold\_scaled, battlefield\_minutes, permanent. Base-element-compatibility tag identifies EAM-pair eligibility per §10.6 — base-pair combos reach EAM-pair peak expression when both contributing vril-seat positions are device-bonded; vril-seat-plus-trade combos reach EAM-on-trade-mastery expression with vril-seat-side-bonded; trade-trade combos cast at trade-mastery expression only with no EAM-pair tier accessible.

The tier expression structure for combos applies the canonical hybrid mechanic locked at Phase 5G-4-B per §5C combo proficiency framework. Tier 3 Theoricus onset and Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced are separate casts with own cooldown and own canonical effect — the player chooses which tier to deploy based on situation, vril budget, and combat phase. Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak applies to the six base-pair combos only and registers as a canonical-class ultimate requiring quest-unlock per CVD §17.5 hard line plus Adeptus Minor mastery threshold on both contributing bases. The Tier 6 substrate-peak combos are mini-volcano-class — substantial battlefield-reshaping persistence at chapter-spanning cooldown, deployed at canonical-magnitude story moments. Vril-seat-plus-trade combos and trade-trade combos cap at Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced expression; the canonical EAM-pair peak tier per §10.6 is unreachable for these without dual vril-seat-bonded contribution, which structurally cannot occur for trade-element-coupled combos.

Combo proficiency derives per §5C from 0.5 × proficiency(base A) \+ 0.5 × proficiency(base B). Combo cast advances both contributing base proficiencies at full rate. Mastery Point cost spans both contributing base pools at the tier-cost of the combo cast — Tier 3 onset costs 2 Mastery Points from each contributing pool, Tier 5 enhanced costs 3 Mastery Points from each, Tier 6 substrate-peak auto-unlocks at zero cost when both contributing Adeptus Minor questlines complete per §5A Mastery Point cost framework.

Per-combo damage profile, status effect numerical duration, sigma-constraint randomization parameter, animation specification, exact cooldown numerical value, and physics-chain interaction trigger thresholds defer to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H scope. The §12 catalog establishes character, utility, cooldown class, persistence class, and EAM-pair eligibility at canonical architectural depth; numerical calibration lands at Combat Spec.

The catalog organizes by combo group. §12.1 covers the six base-pair combos at three-tier expression. §12.2 covers the twelve vril-seat-plus-trade-element combos at two-tier expression. §12.3 covers the three trade-trade combos at two-tier expression with new authoring at Phase 5G-4-B.

§12.1 Base-Pair Combos

Six base-pair combos pair the four base elements taken two-at-a-time. Each combo expresses across three tiers — Tier 3 Theoricus onset, Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced, Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak. The Tier 6 substrate-peak tier applies the mini-volcano-class canonical magnitude framing — substantial battlefield-reshaping persistence at chapter-spanning Very Long cooldown, deployed at canonical-magnitude moments. EAM-pair peak expression unlocks when both contributing base elements are device-bonded per §10.4 player-choice base-element bindings; for the player's chosen bonding triplet, three of the six base-pair combos reach EAM-pair peak expression and three cast at EAM-on-standard fallback per §10.6 Combat Integration.

§12.1.1 Earth Plus Water — Mud and Clay

Earth and Water meet at the canonical mud and clay substrate — the protagonist binds two of the four base elements through the simplest coupling, the substrate that supports agriculture, ceramic, structural foundation, and ritual immersion across documented cultural traditions globally.

Mud Field — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Earth numerical 30-49 plus Water numerical 30-49. Vril cost medium from Earth pool plus medium from Water pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class sustained. Character control / secondary terrain\_reshape. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Water bonding. The protagonist creates a sustained mud field at target location — enemies entering the field move at reduced speed, lose stable footing, and risk falling-prone status under sustained-area pressure. The canonical utility neither base provides — Earth alone produces solid terrain, Water alone produces puddle medium with conduction interaction; mud field combines viscous-restraint without conductive-vulnerability, a tactical environment unavailable to either base alone.

Clay Bind — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Earth numerical 70-99 plus Water numerical 70-99 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 50-69 Practicus. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character control / secondary damage. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Water bonding. The protagonist binds a target in living clay — vril-shaped clay envelopes the target's lower body and progressively hardens through Earth-substrate solidification while retaining Water-substrate hydration that prevents the target from breaking free through dehydration-shatter. Sustained binding applies attribute degradation as the target struggles. The canonical utility neither base provides — Earth Grip restrains briefly through stone tendrils that release on hard struggle; Water Whip applies displacement without binding; Clay Bind applies sustained restraint with attribute drain that single-base mechanics cannot replicate.

Living Earth Cathedral — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak. Unlock at Earth Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus Water Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus dual numerical 100\. Vril cost extreme from each pool. Cooldown class Very Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes — substantial chapter-spanning duration. Character terrain\_reshape / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Water bonding. The protagonist initiates a massive landscape reshape — Earth Pillars rise across the canonical battlefield radius, Mud terrain pools persist at construct bases, Clay-Bind-class restraint manifests at construct foundations against any enemy in proximity. The construct field stands at canonical magnitude — pillars at full §5E charge-hold cap, mud fields at sustained persistence cap. The protagonist becomes the architect of canonical battlefield geography for the chapter-spanning duration. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces multi-construct sustained terrain at battlefield scale; this is the canonical mini-volcano-class expression of the Earth-Water marriage.

§12.1.2 Earth Plus Fire — Metal and Magma

Earth and Fire meet at the canonical forge — the substrate of metallurgical transformation, weapon-making, and the volcanic substrate that built civilizations across documented cultural traditions from Anatolian copper through Japanese tatara through Andean smelting.

Metal Strike — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Earth numerical 30-49 plus Fire numerical 30-49 plus Trade 3 Blacksmithing numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from each pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class brief. Character damage / secondary utility. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Fire bonding. The protagonist projects a heated-metal projectile at target — molten metal solidifies on impact, applying piercing damage plus sustained burn status as the metal cools. The canonical utility neither base provides — Rock Throw applies blunt impact without burn; Fire Bolt applies fire damage without piercing; Metal Strike combines piercing impact with sustained burn at single-projectile efficiency.

Magma Tide — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Earth numerical 70-99 plus Fire numerical 70-99. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character damage / secondary terrain\_reshape. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Fire bonding. The protagonist channels a sustained magma flow across target terrain — molten substrate persists at the canonical area, applying sustained burn damage to entities standing in the flow and destroying low-flammability and moderate-flammability constructs caught within. Magma terrain carries hot thermal state per §5G physics taxonomy and triggers Fire-meets-Vegetation Wildfire chains at adjacent flammable substrate. The canonical utility neither base provides — Ignition Field applies sustained burn without terrain-destruction; Living Stone construct cannot apply burn; Magma Tide combines battlefield-burn with construct-destruction-radius and physics-chain ignition trigger.

Volcanic Eruption — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak. Unlock at Earth Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus Fire Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus dual numerical 100\. Vril cost extreme from each pool. Cooldown class Very Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character damage / secondary terrain\_reshape — true hybrid expression at substrate-peak magnitude. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Fire bonding. The protagonist initiates the canonical reference for mini-volcano-class T6 substrate-peak — magma fissures open across the canonical battlefield radius, sustained Hot terrain manifests at fissure margins, structural-failure cascades trigger against any nearby walls and cliff faces per §5G physics-chain Force-meets-Wall pattern at canonical-canon magnitude. The eruption signature is canonical — vertical magma columns, ash plumes, ground-shake cascading into Pillar-meets-Slope avalanche triggers in mountain regions. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base or single-tier expression matches volcanic-cell battlefield reshape with multi-physics-chain triggering at battlefield magnitude. This is the canonical mini-volcano-class anchor.

§12.1.3 Earth Plus Air — Sand and Dust

Earth and Air meet at the canonical desert and storm substrate — the protagonist channels Earth's mass through Air's mobility into the canonical sandstorm and dust-storm substrate documented across Saharan, Arabian, Mongolian, and Atacama cultural traditions.

Character utility / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Air bonding. The protagonist generates a dust cloud at canonical area — visibility collapses for enemies entering the area, ranged-attack accuracy degrades, and abrasive sustained particulate applies low-grade damage to organic substrate per §5G physics taxonomy. The canonical utility neither base provides — Mist Screen obscures vision without abrasive damage; Gust Push displaces without persistence; Dust Cloud combines sustained vision-obscurement with abrasive damage application.

Sand Lash — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Earth numerical 70-99 plus Air numerical 70-99. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class sustained. Character control / secondary damage. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Air bonding. The protagonist directs a sustained sand-vortex at target area — abrasive sustained damage at canonical-magnitude rate, blinding-status application against organic-substrate enemies, and movement disruption through sand-shifting underfoot. The vortex tracks the protagonist's directional input per §5D mobility class disciplines applied to a damage-class ability. The canonical utility neither base provides — Wind Scar applies bleed-status without sustained area; Seismic Pulse staggers without sustained pressure; Sand Lash combines sustained area abrasion with blinding control at directional-control-driven precision.

Vril cost extreme from each pool. Cooldown class Very Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character control / secondary damage. EAM-pair eligibility per Earth and Air bonding. The protagonist initiates a sustained sandstorm region across canonical battlefield magnitude — visibility collapses across the entire combat zone, navigation disorientation applies to all enemies regardless of distance from protagonist, abrasive damage at sustained rate applies to organic substrate exposed to the storm, and friendly NPCs receive the canonical L1 Truly Good warming aura plus visibility-shielding at integrity-band-modulated magnitude. Storm persistence covers the chapter-spanning duration; storm volume covers regional-magnitude rather than localized area. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces region-magnitude weather effect with sustained navigation-disorientation; this is the canonical mini-volcano-class expression of Earth-Air desert-substrate marriage.

§12.1.4 Water Plus Fire — Steam and Plasma

Water and Fire meet at the canonical state-change substrate — the protagonist binds opposing elements through the canonical alchemical solve-et-coagula tradition documented in Persian alchemy, Tamil Siddha, Daoist neidan, and Hellenic chymeia traditions.

Persistence class brief — instantaneous projectile with brief ionization residue. Character damage. EAM-pair eligibility per Water and Fire bonding. The protagonist projects a plasma lance — fully ionized state-change projectile traveling at canonical-magnitude velocity, applying piercing damage plus electromagnetic-state-change at impact substrate. Targets struck by Plasma Lance retain Lightning-vulnerability for brief residue duration, opening physics-chain Conduction interaction with subsequent Lightning casts per §5G.4. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces high-velocity fully-ionized projectile with electromagnetic state-change vulnerability application.

Plasma Column — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak. Unlock at Water Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus Fire Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus dual numerical 100\. Vril cost extreme from each pool. Cooldown class Very Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character damage. EAM-pair eligibility per Water and Fire bonding. The protagonist initiates a vertical plasma pillar at canonical battlefield location — sustained area damage at the column radius, visibility obscurement at column ambient zone, and ignition-chain trigger to flammable adjacencies per §5G.4 Fire-meets-Vegetation pattern. The column persists at the canonical-magnitude duration; ambient ionization extends Lightning-vulnerability across the surrounding zone, allowing protagonist Lightning-class casts to chain through the ionized atmosphere at amplified magnitude. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces sustained vertical column with ambient ionization radius; this is the canonical mini-volcano-class expression of Water-Fire state-change substrate marriage.

The protagonist directs a moving squall line across the canonical battlefield — sustained wind damage plus rain-saturated ground that triggers Conduction with Lightning-class casts per §5G.4. The squall tracks the protagonist's directional input through canonical control discipline. Enemies caught in the line take traction-reduction status, projectile-deflection on incoming ranged attacks against the protagonist, and rain-saturation that opens physics-chain Lightning amplification. The canonical utility neither base provides — Storm Calling at single-base produces localized weather without directional control; Squall Line combines moving-front weather with directional steering at canonical Long-cooldown availability.

Hurricane Cell — Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak. Unlock at Water Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus Air Adeptus Minor canonical questline complete plus dual numerical 100 plus Trade 10 Fishing and Navigation Adeptus Minor questline complete. Strikes target enemies preferentially per substrate-state recognition; friendly NPCs receive the canonical hostile-substrate-detection passive plus visibility shielding at integrity-band-modulated magnitude. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces sustained electrical storm with auto-targeting Lightning at battlefield magnitude. This is the canonical mini-volcano-class expression of Fire-Air convection substrate marriage.

§12.2 Vril-seat-Plus-Trade-Element Combos

Twelve combos pair each base element (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) with each trade-unlocked element (Lightning, Poison, Vegetation). These combos express across two tiers — Tier 3 Theoricus onset and Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced. The Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak tier is unreachable for vril-seat-trade combos because the trade-element side has no vril-seat device per §10 architecture; max combo expression caps at EAM-on-trade-mastery rather than EAM-pair peak per §10.6 Combat Integration. The canonical utility neither base provides — Arc Strike chains without Fire damage; Phoenix Form does not produce projectile attacks; Thunder Arc combines multi-target chained capability with dual-status application at canonical Long-cooldown deployment.

§12.2.8 Fire Plus Poison — Combustion

Volatile Mix — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Fire numerical 30-49 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from Fire pool plus resource cost (single volatile reagent dose) from Poison resource pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class brief. Character damage / secondary utility. EAM-pair eligibility — Fire-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist tosses a volatile compound at target area — explosive ignition at impact plus sustained burn through Poison residue plus brief disorientation through chemical fumes. The canonical utility neither base provides — Fire Bolt applies single-target ignition; Toxin Application coats melee weapon; Volatile Mix combines explosive area damage with sustained burn at canonical-magnitude single-cast.

Combustion Wave — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Fire numerical 70-99 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from Fire pool plus resource cost (high-grade volatile compound) from Poison resource pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class brief. Character damage. EAM-pair eligibility — Fire-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist initiates a combustion wave across canonical area — explosive ignition at canonical-magnitude radius, sustained burn applies to all caught enemies at canonical rate, and the wave triggers physics-chain Wildfire propagation against any vegetation-class construct or organic-substrate region in the area per §5G.4. The canonical utility neither base provides — Ignition Field applies sustained burn without explosive incidence; Combustion Wave combines explosive area magnitude with multi-physics-chain triggering at canonical Long-cooldown.

§12.2.9 Fire Plus Vegetation — Ash and Smoke

Ember Trail — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Fire numerical 30-49 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from each pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class sustained. Character utility / secondary damage. EAM-pair eligibility — Fire-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist generates an ember trail across canonical line — sustained burn at trail substrate, visibility restriction through ash-laden smoke at trail margin, and ignition trigger to adjacent flammable-tagged objects per §5G physics taxonomy. The canonical utility neither base provides — Heat Aura applies passive ambient damage; Living Shield provides defensive vegetation construct; Ember Trail combines line-magnitude sustained burn with visibility restriction and ignition trigger.

Burning Forest — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Fire numerical 70-99 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character damage / secondary terrain\_reshape. EAM-pair eligibility — Fire-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist initiates a burning forest construct at canonical battlefield area — vegetation summons at canonical density plus sustained Wildfire propagation across the construct field, smoke obscurement saturates the entire area, and ash-fall extends sustained burn to flammable substrate adjacent to the construct field. Burning Forest carries the L1 Truly Good integrity-band penalty if cast in cultural-substrate-protective regions per §5G.4 Living Forest plus Fire pattern. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces self-igniting summoned forest at battlefield magnitude with multi-substrate burn propagation.

§12.2.10 Air Plus Lightning — Plasma Field

Static Burst — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Air numerical 30-49 plus Engineering numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from each pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class brief. Character damage / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — Air-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist projects an electrostatic burst at target area — Lightning damage at canonical magnitude plus brief movement-disruption status applied to enemies caught in the burst. The canonical utility neither base provides — Wind Scar applies bleed without electrical capability; Static Charge buffs the protagonist's weapon; Static Burst combines area-magnitude Lightning with movement-disruption at single-cast efficiency.

Plasma Field — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Air numerical 70-99 plus Engineering numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class sustained. Character damage / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — Air-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist creates a sustained plasma field across canonical area — sustained Lightning damage at the field radius, movement disruption applies to all enemies in the field at canonical-magnitude rate, and ranged plasma application can extend through Cyclone-fusion mechanic per §11.4 Cyclone reframe. The canonical utility neither base provides — Cyclone displaces without electrical capability; Tesla Field disrupts coordination without damage; Plasma Field combines sustained area Lightning damage with movement disruption at canonical Long-cooldown.

§12.2.11 Air Plus Poison — Toxic Cloud

Poisoned Mist — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Air numerical 30-49 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from Air pool plus resource cost (single Poison reagent dose) from Poison resource pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class sustained. Character damage / secondary utility. EAM-pair eligibility — Air-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist disperses a poisoned mist across canonical area — sustained Poison damage to enemies in the mist plus visibility restriction. The canonical utility neither base provides — Mist Screen at single-base provides obscurement without toxin; Paralytic Cloud restrains without sustained damage; Poisoned Mist combines visibility restriction with sustained area poison at canonical-magnitude.

Toxic Cloud — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Air numerical 70-99 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from Air pool plus resource cost (high-grade alchemy reagent batch) from Poison resource pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class sustained. Character damage / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — Air-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist disperses a sustained toxic cloud across canonical battlefield area — sustained Poison damage at canonical-magnitude rate plus paralytic-status application to enemies caught in the cloud plus visibility collapse for all observers in the area. Distinct from Air-only Poison Cyclone per §11.4 — Toxic Cloud is sustained area effect rather than vortex-form, persists at sustained class rather than charge-hold scaled. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces battlefield-magnitude sustained toxic atmosphere with paralytic-status combined with visibility collapse.

§12.2.12 Air Plus Vegetation — Pollen Storm

Pollen Drift — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Air numerical 30-49 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from each pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class sustained. Character utility / secondary damage. EAM-pair eligibility — Air-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist generates a pollen drift across canonical area — visibility restriction plus sustained-allergen damage application against organic-substrate enemies (per §5G physics taxonomy organic\_substrate property — non-organic enemies and constructs are immune). The canonical utility neither base provides — Mist Screen obscures without targeted-substrate damage; Living Shield provides defensive construct; Pollen Drift combines visibility restriction with selective-target sustained damage at organic-substrate filter.

Pollen Storm — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Air numerical 70-99 plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class sustained. Character damage / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — Air-side bonded reaches EAM-on-trade-mastery. The protagonist initiates a sustained pollen storm across canonical battlefield area — visibility collapses across the entire area, sustained-allergen damage applies to organic-substrate enemies at canonical-magnitude rate, paralytic-status escalates against organic-substrate enemies through prolonged exposure, and the storm seeds the canonical area with vegetation regrowth substrate post-encounter. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces battlefield-magnitude allergen storm with selective organic-substrate filtering plus paralytic escalation plus regenerative substrate seeding.

§12.3 Trade-Trade Combos

Three combos pair the trade-unlocked elements with each other — Lightning plus Poison, Lightning plus Vegetation, Poison plus Vegetation. These combos cast at trade-mastery expression only with no EAM-pair tier accessible per §10.6 — neither contributing element has vril-seat-coupled device infusion, so the canonical EAM polish overlay does not apply. Trade-trade combos express across two tiers — Tier 3 Theoricus onset and Tier 5 Philosophus enhanced. Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-peak is unreachable for trade-trade combos through the same architectural absence of vril-seat-device coupling. New canonical authoring at Phase 5G-4-B introduces these three combos to the catalog.

Trade-trade combos extend the Trade 4 Herbalism plus Trade 5 Alchemy resource-cost framing per §11.9 to combo deployment. Where vril-seat-coupled combos consume vril from contributing vril-seat pools, trade-trade combos consume vril from the Engineering trade pool (for Lightning-coupled combos) plus crafted reagent resource (for Poison-coupled combos) plus vegetation substrate consumption (for Vegetation-coupled combos). The mixed cost structure reflects the canonical post-vril-depletion framing — these are capabilities humans developed through trade engagement after atmospheric vril reduction, distinct from the vril-seat-bonded primal-substrate combos.

§12.3.1 Lightning Plus Poison — Galvanic Toxin

Galvanic Toxin is the canonical Engineering plus Herbalism-Alchemy combination — electromagnetic field application that accelerates Poison absorption through induced cellular permeability. The canonical historical anchor draws from documented late-19th-century electrotherapy experiments that explored electrical-field-mediated drug delivery; the substrate has been systematically erased from mainstream medical history per Component 5 institutional knowledge-suppression pattern, though documented reference traces survive in regional alternative-medicine traditions. The protagonist who masters this combo applies electromagnetic-mediated Poison delivery at canonical magnitudes that would not surface in standard Engineering or Herbalism progression alone.

Charged Toxin — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Engineering numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from Engineering pool plus resource cost (single Poison reagent plus electrostatic catalyst). Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class brief. Character damage / secondary utility. EAM-pair eligibility — none (trade-trade, no vril-seat device on either side). The protagonist applies an electromagnetic field to a poisoned weapon or projectile — the field induces accelerated absorption at impact, doubling Poison damage application rate compared to standard Toxin Application. Brief metal-armor-electrical-disable applies as secondary effect from the electromagnetic field discharge. The canonical utility neither base provides — Toxin Application coats melee weapon at standard absorption rate; Static Charge applies pure Lightning damage; Charged Toxin combines accelerated Poison delivery with brief electrical disable at single-cast efficiency.

Galvanic Field — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Engineering numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from Engineering pool plus resource cost (high-grade alchemical compound plus electromagnetic substrate matrix). Cooldown class Long. Persistence class sustained. Character damage / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — none. The protagonist generates a sustained galvanic field across canonical area — accelerated Poison absorption applies to all enemies entering the field, electrical-disable status escalates against metal-armored enemies through sustained field exposure, and the field disrupts antagonist-family electronic surveillance per the canonical Tesla Field disruption mechanic plus accelerates ambient Poison residue from prior Poison-class casts. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces sustained area where Poison absorption accelerates while metal-armor electrical capability degrades; this is the canonical Engineering-Herbalism-Alchemy three-trade synthesis expression.

§12.3.2 Lightning Plus Vegetation — Galvanic Growth

Galvanic Growth is the canonical Engineering plus Herbalism combination — electromagnetic field application that accelerates vegetation growth and substrate response. The canonical historical anchor draws from documented agricultural-electricity experiments across late-19th-century European and American farms exploring electrified soil for accelerated crop yields, similarly suppressed from mainstream agricultural history. The protagonist who masters this combo applies electromagnetic-mediated vegetation acceleration at canonical magnitudes for both combat and exploration substrate-shaping.

Quickbloom — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Engineering numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Vril cost medium from Engineering pool plus medium from Vegetation pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class sustained. Character utility / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — none. The protagonist applies an electromagnetic field to ambient vegetation in canonical area — local plant matter accelerates growth at canonical rate, producing sudden vegetation cover that breaks line of sight, restrains enemies through entanglement at sustained class, and provides the protagonist with concealment routing per §5G physics taxonomy organic-substrate response. The canonical utility neither base provides — Entangle restrains organic substrate without acceleration; Static Charge does not affect vegetation; Quickbloom combines acceleration with restraint plus concealment at sustained scope.

Living Surge — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Engineering numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Vril cost high from each pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character control / secondary terrain\_reshape. EAM-pair eligibility — none. The protagonist initiates a sustained living surge across canonical battlefield area — vegetation explodes from ambient substrate at canonical-magnitude rate, sustained entanglement applies to all enemies in the surge area, the surge propagates to adjacent natural-vegetation regions extending the canonical battlefield-shape, and post-encounter the canonical area carries permanent vegetation regrowth at canonical-restorative magnitude (the surge restores rather than depletes ambient substrate, distinct from Living Earth Wall self-repair which consumes ambient substrate). The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces battlefield-magnitude vegetation explosion with restorative ambient effect plus sustained restraint at canonical Long-cooldown.

§12.3.3 Poison Plus Vegetation — Bloomrot

Bloomrot is the canonical Trade 4 Herbalism plus Trade 5 Alchemy plus single-trade combo — corrupted vegetation growth that produces toxic botanical substrate at canonical magnitudes. The canonical anchor draws from documented historical incidents of fungal and bacterial vegetation corruption — ergot ergotism, oomycete blight, plant tumors caused by Agrobacterium tumefaciens — applied as deliberate combat capability through trade-mastery synthesis. The protagonist who masters this combo weaponizes the canonical decay that destroys agricultural production, applied at battlefield magnitude through canonical Adept-skill discipline.

Witherbloom — Tier 3 Theoricus. Unlock at Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 30-49 Theoricus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 30-49 Theoricus. Resource cost (single corrupted vegetation reagent dose) from Poison resource pool plus medium vril cost from Vegetation pool. Cooldown class Medium. Persistence class sustained. Character damage / secondary control. EAM-pair eligibility — none. The protagonist initiates a witherbloom at canonical ground area — corrupted vegetation rises and applies sustained Poison damage to enemies in the area, vegetation in the area dies and resists Forest Call summoning, and the bloom releases a paralytic-spore-cloud that escalates against enemies who linger. The canonical utility neither base provides — Living Shield produces defensive construct without Poison; Paralytic Cloud applies airborne paralytic without ground-bound vegetation substrate; Witherbloom combines ground-bound vegetation construct with sustained Poison damage and paralytic-spore escalation.

Bloomrot — Tier 5 Philosophus. Unlock at Trade 4 Herbalism numerical 70-99 Philosophus plus Trade 5 Alchemy numerical 70-99 Philosophus. Resource cost (high-grade corrupted-substrate compound) from Poison resource pool plus high vril cost from Vegetation pool. Cooldown class Long. Persistence class battlefield\_minutes. Character damage / secondary control — true hybrid expression at trade-mastery peak. EAM-pair eligibility — none. The protagonist initiates a battlefield-magnitude bloomrot — corrupted-vegetation cathedral rises across canonical area, sustained Poison damage at canonical-magnitude rate, paralytic-spore atmosphere at field-saturation density, vegetation across the area corrupts at canonical decay-substrate manifestation, and vegetation in adjacent natural regions risks corruption-spread propagation per documented oomycete-blight pattern. The canonical L1 Truly Good integrity-band penalty applies for bloomrot cast in cultural-substrate-protective regions per §6 cultural depiction standard. The canonical utility neither base provides — no single base produces battlefield-magnitude corrupted vegetation construct with multi-substrate decay and propagation risk; this is the trade-mastery peak expression of the Poison-Vegetation darkness.

§13. Biography Influence on Abilities

Path differentiation in the ability tree comes primarily from the catalog itself per §11 plus §12 — L1 Truly Good unlocks healing-class abilities like Purification Wave, Vril Mass Revival, World Tree Aspect, Voice of the World; L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil unlock predation-class abilities like Soul Drain, Corruption Stone, Drowning Grasp, Void Command; L3 Drifting unlocks balance-locked abilities like Earthsong, Mirror Surface, Probability Sight, Freedom Form. Catalog access is the canonical playstyle differentiator.

This section adds only minor reinforcing flavor — equal in magnitude across mirror bands, calibrated to keep no path power-gaming optimal while still feeling thematically reinforced.

The five integrity-band mirrored modifiers per T1\_Integrity\_Paths\_Worldstates\_Master five-band canon.

Mirror symmetry. L1 and L5 carry equal magnitude (10%) on opposite axes — healing efficiency versus damage amplification. L2 and L4 carry equal magnitude (5%) on opposite axes. L3 sits at the symmetric center with the broadest-but-smallest bonus (5% on all abilities) reflecting canonical convergence-balance discipline. No path is power-gaming optimal under this distribution. The substantive playstyle distinction lives in catalog access per §11 plus §12, not in percentage stacks layered on shared abilities.

Wealth and faction biography parameters per CVD §10 character creation framework do not modify ability-class output. Wealth affects NPC pricing and economy mechanics per T1\_Integrity\_Paths\_Worldstates\_Master economy-mechanics scope. Faction affects faction-gated quest availability, dialogue branches, and faction-NPC reactions per Tier 2 Chapter Design briefs faction mechanics. These domains are owned by their respective canonical authorities and do not enter the ability-tree balance equation.

Application is passive. The integrity-band modifier applies automatically per the active L1-L5 band at the moment of ability activation. Activation-time band evaluation per T0\_Worldstate\_Variables WS\_002 integrity\_level enum dispatch.

Path identity through catalog access is canonical replayability. L1 Truly Good's identity comes from healing, revival, communion, purification, world-tree manifestation — abilities the L4/L5 path cannot access. L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil's identity comes from drain, corruption, suffocation, soul extraction, void command — abilities the L1 path cannot access. L3 Drifting's identity comes from balance-locked abilities the path-locked bands cannot access. The catalog carries the differentiation; this section adds only thematic reinforcement at calibrated magnitudes.

§14. Specialization Architecture and Replayability

The v1.4 catalog at approximately 185 distinct abilities per §3 spans the eight elements plus the three Ether sub-categories plus Layer B combo and Layer C trade-element layers. Layer E path-locked alternates emerge through integrity-band gating on existing catalog entries (L1-locked Truth Speak, Vril Healing track, Forge Reality access; L4-L5-locked Drowning Grasp, Soul Drain, Corruption Stone, Corruption Spread access; L3-locked Earthsong, Mirror Surface, Probability Sight, Freedom Form access). A single playthrough masters approximately forty to sixty abilities — roughly one third of the v1.4 catalog. Forced specialization is canonical design.

Specialization reinforcement mechanics.

Specialization-versus-balance is a canonical design tension. Every playthrough's specialization choice constrains and enables different content access. The canonical replayability cycle — first playthrough develops one shape; second develops a contrasting shape; third explores a balanced or extreme path — is the canonical design intent for protracted player engagement across the game's roughly thirty-million-word arc.

Per-playthrough mastery cap interacts with the player-choice standard-progression vril-seat per §10. The canonical replayability cycle includes player exploration of which vril-seat to leave at standard progression — six EAM-overlay vril-seats versus one player-choice standard vril-seat produces seven distinct playthrough configurations before any specialization choice intersects.

Specialization now carries a second combinatorial axis alongside catalog access. The per-tier bonus pools of §5I mean two protagonists who unlocked the same abilities in the same elements still play different builds, and the bonded-familiar and companion-party choices of §14A add a third. §14A names the role shapes those combinations produce and the discipline by which their breadth is measured.

§14A. Build-Role Architecture and the Build-Space

Per docs/COMBAT_PROGRAM_ADDENDUM.md §11 plus the §10 balance doctrine and the §12 familiar stat touchpoint. §14 establishes that specialization is forced and that replayability comes from it. §14A names the shapes specialization takes, so that the breadth of viable shapes stops being an assertion and becomes a measured quantity.

§14A.1 The Role Axes

Six role axes carry the seed taxonomy — group support, group heals, group damage, single-target heals, single-target damage, single-target support. Each axis crosses the build families the catalog already supports.

The six axes are the authoring baseline, not the roster ceiling. A role that emerges from play and is not named here is an addition to the taxonomy, not a violation of it; the factory expands the axis list per chapter as the catalog, the pools, and the encounter roster grow. Spec purposes per §5I.2 carry role tags, which is the mechanism by which a build's axis is known without a player declaring one.

Group roles apply in two arenas. The companion party is the single-player group, and the Tier C layer per T1\_Tier\_C\_MMO\_Spec is the collective one. One taxonomy serves both — party building in the solo campaign is the training ground for group building at Tier C, designed once and deliberately, so a player who learned to compose a party already knows how to compose a group.

§14A.2 Custom-Forge Merge Builds

Merged spells are a build family of their own. The operator-rune forge per addendum §2b and T0\_Rune\_Registry supplies the mechanism: the epic-rarity spell-merge catalyst authors a custom spell from two of the 185 at Adeptus-tier mastery, the §2 Inner Order threshold, and the legendary element-combine operator fuses across elements.

The palette gate is the doctrine guard. A merge draws only from proficiencies and specialties the protagonist has actually mastered, so a custom ability cannot leave the vril doctrine by construction — the player composes from what they earned, never from a free-form list. §11's casting invariant is unchanged and is the same rule stated from the other side: base casting of all 185 abilities is runeless and mastery-channeled, and only custom merged spells involve an inscription step.

Merge combinatorics are discovery content. Which pairs fuse, and what a fusion becomes, is endgame play in its own right rather than a menu operation — the design consequence is that the merge space is authored to reward exploration, with per-pair identity, surprising results, and fusions worth trying for their own sake instead of a uniform formula applied to any two inputs. A merge space where every pair yields a predictable blend has content in it but no discovery, which is the failure mode to author against.

Custom-forge merges stay distinct from Layer B combos per the §5G.6 discipline. Layer B combos are canonically authored ultimates drawn from the twenty-one-combo matrix with their own cooldown classes and persistence. Custom-forge merges are player-authored, catalyst-gated, and bounded by the mastery palette. Both exist, they read differently in the hand, and neither replaces the other.

§14A.3 Familiars as Spec Decisions

The twenty-two familiar slots are build components, not cosmetic pets. Bond depth progresses on the twelve-tier framework per §3, and bond depth gates familiar legendary content and the Ch 58 reunion path-branching.

Two layers compose. The bond ladder gates what a familiar can do — the rung-by-rung capability grant whose data home is the deferred bond\_abilities table declared against T0\_Familiar\_Registry. The stat spread the player builds tunes how the familiar does it, per addendum §12. Bond gates capability; spread tunes execution; the two are read together and neither is derivable from the other. Stat spreads, the intelligence-driven ally AI axis, and loyalty consequences are owned by T1\_Integrity\_Paths\_Worldstates\_Master per §1; this doc owns only the consequence for ability builds.

That consequence is direct through Enhanced Ability Mastery. Familiar-bonded EAM pairing means the bonded familiar participates in ability expression per §10.6 and addendum §2, so choosing a familiar chooses part of the ability build — a player optimizing an elemental specification is choosing a familiar as surely as they are choosing pool picks.

The path-variable twenty-second slot is an endgame build axis of its own. Its resolution follows the protagonist's integrity band, so the build it enables differs per path exactly as catalog access differs per band in §13 — the same replayability logic, applied to the familiar roster.

Familiar choice enters the sweeps. A familiar whose bond ladder supports no viable build is a balance defect in the same sense that a never-picked pool option is.

§14A.4 Companions as Party-Role Build Components

Party composition is an input to ability-build viability. A healer companion makes a glass-damage specification playable; a durable front-line companion frees a player to build support; a party with no crowd control forces the player's own pools toward control picks. The player's viable specifications therefore depend on who travels with them, which is why team composition is content rather than a menu.

Companion loadouts and bonus parity, companion stat spreads, the ally-intelligence axis, and the investment-protection rule under which a departing companion returns the gear invested in them are owned outside this doc per §1 — the moral weight of a companion leaving stays on the relationship, never on lost kit. What this doc owns is the consequence: the build-space sweeps of §14A.5 run per team shape, not against a solo protagonist alone.

§14A.5 The Balance Doctrine at Build-Space Scope

Mathematically overpowered builds are allowed. Meta-collapse is the banned failure mode. The target is many roles and strategies with hundreds to thousands of equally viable builds, where being strong depends on both player talent and build theorycraft — the failure this doc authors against is the shape where a catalog this large collapses to one or two correct answers and customization becomes decoration.

Breadth is measured, never asserted. Phase 5M and Phase 5H inherit build-space sweeps as a charter item — automated simulation across the ability catalog, the §5I bonus and rarity pools, the spec purposes, the merge space of §14A.2, and the familiar and companion compositions of §14A.3 plus §14A.4, run per encounter class and reported per role axis. The output is a viability-breadth scorecard: how many distinct builds clear the bar per role, where the collapse points sit, and which options are dead picks.

Three defect definitions follow, and they carry the same teeth as the existing gates.

Magnitudes and the tuning itself defer to Phase 5M per this doc's standing deferral discipline. §14A.5 establishes the charter, the measured quantity, and the defect definitions; the numbers that satisfy them land at the balance phase.

§15. Cross-Doc Authority References and Recent Changes

This doc surfaces the cross-cutting ability-tree layer. Authoritative content lives in the domain docs cited per §1.

§16. Puzzle, Agility, and Dialogue Integration

The ability tree is not solely combat capability. Puzzles, agility courses, and dialogue exchanges all surface ability-driven solutions across the canonical 77-chapter solo campaign. §16 establishes the canonical authority for ability integration across these three non-combat surfaces. Per CVD §10 character creation framework, the canonical replayability cycle includes meaningful variation across puzzle solutions, agility traversal approaches, and dialogue branches per the protagonist's specialization choices and integrity-band trajectory.

§16.1 Ability-Gated Puzzle Discipline

Puzzles in the canonical campaign are not single-ability lock-and-key gates. The canonical design discipline rejects the linear-mapped "press the marked button to use ability X for marked solution Y" pattern. The protagonist who masters Earth abilities does not encounter Earth-class puzzles where the only solution is the Earth ability the puzzle prompts for. The canonical design discipline embeds puzzles in physical-reality substrate per §5G framework — puzzles are environmental configurations where the protagonist's abilities act on physical objects, materials, and forces according to documented physical laws, and multiple ability combinations produce valid solutions through different physics chains.

The quality target sits at the canonical depth of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Zelda Wind Waker, and Mario 64\. These titles surface puzzles where the protagonist's full ability palette engages physical-substrate problem-solving — fire melts ice, wind carries lightweight projectiles, force displaces objects with mass, electricity flows through water, vegetation responds to sustained presence. The canonical protagonist's ability palette per §11 plus §12 plus the §5D Mobility plus §5E Environmental Manipulation plus §5G Physics-Driven Interactions framework supports puzzle design at canonical equivalent depth — environmental configurations where ability chains, physics interactions, and creative ability deployment surface multiple valid solution paths.

The canonical Hogwarts Legacy approach — single-ability marked-target puzzles where the player presses the contextual button to deploy the marked ability for the marked solution — does not represent canonical design discipline at the Humanity quality target. The canonical Humanity puzzle does not mark the ability the player should use, does not light up the target the player should aim at, and does not constrain the solution to a single ability route. The canonical Humanity puzzle presents an environmental configuration and trusts the player to apply their canonical ability palette through physical-reality substrate engagement.

Multi-ability puzzle solutions are canonical design intent. Vertical traversal puzzles solve through Earth Pillar charge-hold construction, Ice Pillar construction, Mini Cyclone Lift mobility, Fire Jet mobility, Wind Walker mobility, Astral Step instant translocation at Adeptus Minor depth, or combination chains across multiple abilities — the canonical design supports each route with appropriate physical-substrate consequence. Cross-water gaps solve through Ice Path mobility, Earth Pillar bridge construction, Cyclone-fusion mobility, swim-class traversal, Item Rift teleportation through pre-positioned anchor, or Vimana flight at Ch 55 Atacama-onward chapter availability. Burning-vegetation hazards solve through Frost Slide mobility through Ice Path conversion, Freeze Ground terrain conversion, Storm Calling rain-saturation conversion, vegetation-construct shielding, or canonical-route mobility-burst at sufficient mastery to outpace propagation.

Per-puzzle solution count varies with puzzle scope. Minor puzzles (single-room exploration gates, side-passage progression) target three-to-five canonical solutions across the protagonist's ability palette. Major puzzles (chapter-progression gates, side-quest climactic gates) target seven-to-twelve canonical solutions including chained-ability sequences and integrity-band-locked alternative routes. Canonical-magnitude puzzles (Ch 38 Azores midpoint substrate-perception trial, Ch 55 Atacama Vimana activation sequence, Ch 76-77 inscription-document interpretation) carry canonical solution sets that engage substantial portions of the protagonist's developed ability palette plus tier-specific gates that reward Adeptus Minor and beyond mastery.

Integrity-band variation surfaces in puzzle solution availability. L1 Truly Good protagonists access compassion-track solutions through healing, communion, and substrate-restoration approaches that path-locked L4-L5 cannot access. L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil protagonists access predation-track solutions through drain, corruption, and substrate-disruption approaches that path-locked L1 cannot access. L3 Drifting protagonists access balance-locked solutions through Probability Sight, Mirror Surface, and Earthsong neutral-state mechanics that path-locked bands cannot access. The canonical replayability cycle exposes the player to different puzzle-solution variants across different integrity-band runs.

Cultural-substrate respect applies to puzzle design per CVD §6 cultural depiction standard. Puzzles in canonical high-care cultural regions — Ch 29 Sámi, Ch 42 Haiti, Ch 57 Australia (the canonical no-combat chapter per CVD §6) — apply cultural-substrate solutions consistent with documented tradition rather than universal-physics-substrate solutions. The canonical Sámi puzzle integrates documented Sámi joik-vocal-tradition substrate at depth canonical to the §5F.3 hostile substrate detection mechanic. The canonical Haitian puzzle integrates documented Vodou substrate-engagement at depth canonical to the §11.7 Crown vril-seat mechanic. The canonical Australian puzzle (no-combat Ch 57\) integrates documented Aboriginal songline-tradition substrate at depth canonical to the §11.5 True Voice mechanic. Per-region puzzle design at chapter-specific cultural-substrate canonical depth defers to T2 ChapterDesign briefs ratification.

Per-puzzle mechanical specifications, sigma-constraint randomization parameters, and animation specifications defer to T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H scope. The §16.1 framework establishes canonical design discipline; per-puzzle specification lands at Combat Spec.

§16.2 Agility Course Integration

The canonical seventy-seven agility courses, one per chapter, operate at three variants per CVD §10 plus T2 ChapterDesign briefs canonical authority. Standard variant surfaces canonical-baseline traversal challenges accessible to protagonists at chapter-canonical mastery tier without specific ability prerequisites. Hardcore variant surfaces extended traversal challenges at canonical-magnitude difficulty that reward Tier 4 Practicus and higher mastery. Puzzle variant surfaces ability-integrated traversal where the canonical solution requires §5D Mobility ability deployment, §5E Environmental Manipulation construct chaining, or §5G physics-driven interaction routing.

§5D Mobility ability integration applies across all 77 courses at the variant-specific design depth. Standard variant courses leverage Wind Step, Fluid Dodge, Ember Strike-traversal, and Freedom Form passive movement for canonical traversal-comfort gains. Hardcore variant courses extend through Earth Surf sustained-drain mobility, Ice Path sustained-drain mobility, Fire Jet sustained-drain mobility, Mini Cyclone Lift charge-hold timing-window mobility, and Wind Walker chained mobility for canonical-magnitude traversal speed and efficiency. Puzzle variant courses gate at Earth Burrow channeled mobility for buried-passage navigation, Astral Step Adeptus Minor instant translocation for substrate-perception-guided shortcut routing, multi-axis mobility chaining (Fire Jet into Mini Cyclone Lift into Earth Surf at Adeptus Major sustained sequence) for canonical-magnitude traversal solutions.

Per-course Mobility ability gating discipline. Each course identifies the canonical ability set the puzzle variant assumes. Per-course design specifies the canonical solution path through the gated abilities — alternative paths through other Mobility abilities surface at canonical equal-or-shorter solution time, ensuring no specialization choice penalizes course completion. The canonical design discipline rejects Hogwarts-style single-ability course gates per §16.1 framework — courses are not "Earth-only" or "Air-only" but rather "physical-substrate puzzles with canonical-multiple-Mobility-ability solutions."

Per-course difficulty scaling. Standard variant rewards canonical Tier 1-2 Mobility tier mastery for course completion. Hardcore variant rewards canonical Tier 3-5 Mobility tier mastery for canonical-magnitude completion-time gains. Puzzle variant rewards canonical Tier 4-6 Mobility tier mastery plus Environmental Manipulation construct deployment (Ice Pillar chains, Earth Pillar parkour at Adeptus Minor, charge-hold persistence sequencing) at canonical-magnitude solution paths.

Cultural-substrate respect applies to agility course design per CVD §6 cultural depiction standard. Courses in canonical high-care cultural regions — Ch 29 Sámi, Ch 42 Haiti, Ch 57 Australia — integrate documented cultural-tradition substrate at depth canonical to the chapter's high-care discipline. Ch 57 Australia carries the canonical no-combat designation; the Ch 57 agility course remains available as canonical traversal challenge without combat-class incidence per the chapter discipline. Per-course cultural-substrate integration at chapter-specific depth defers to T2 ChapterDesign briefs ratification.

Course-clear rewards. Standard completion grants Mastery Point bonus to Agility attribute progression per §4 attribute framework. Hardcore completion grants Mastery Point bonus plus canonical Agility attribute experience plus an unlock to the Puzzle variant for the canonical course. Puzzle completion grants Mastery Point bonus plus canonical Agility attribute experience plus a chapter-canonical reward — typically an inscribed material, a regional artifact, a faction-standing improvement with the canonical regional cultural authority, or an integrity-band-modulated trinket per §11.7 Item Rift inventory routing.

Per-course mechanical specifications, traversal speed numerical thresholds, and animation specifications defer to T2 ChapterDesign briefs and T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H scope. The §16.2 framework establishes canonical course design discipline; per-course specification lands at chapter design briefs.

§16.3 Dialogue Impact

Dialogue exchanges in the canonical campaign are not solely text-tree branching gates. The canonical design discipline embeds ability-driven dialogue impact at three substrate layers — Voice Substrate per §11.5 ability set, True Voice canonical mechanic, and integrity-band §5F ambient detection of substrate-state during dialogue. The protagonist's developed ability palette modifies dialogue availability, NPC response, and dialogue outcome at canonical depth distinct from text-tree choice routing.

Voice Substrate per §11.5 Ether-Throat vril-seat ability set surfaces dialogue impact. Entrance at Tier 1 Neophyte adjusts NPC initial-encounter disposition through vril-projected social presence — perceptive NPCs register the projection and respond per their substrate-state at the moment of registration. Cloaking at Tier 1 Neophyte enables stealth-class dialogue avoidance — the protagonist passes by NPCs at dialogue-distance without triggering encounter-canonical dialogue surface. Illusion — Single Target at Tier 3 Theoricus enables phantom-companion dialogue where the protagonist projects a vril-constructed visual surrogate at canonical distance for indirect-dialogue NPC engagement. Illusion — Multiple at Tier 5 Philosophus path-locked L4-L5 enables mass-deception dialogue at canonical-magnitude social engineering. Optical Occlusion at Tier 5 Philosophus enables area-stealth dialogue routing for protagonist plus allies. The canonical Voice Substrate dialogue mechanics gate at chapter-specific NPC tiers — high-perceptive NPCs (Velheim family vessels, canonical antagonist-aligned characters, substrate-perception-capable allies) detect Voice Substrate engagement at canonical mastery thresholds and respond accordingly.

True Voice at Tier 7 Adeptus Major L1 Truly Good integrity-locked is the canonical dialogue-impact ability per §11.5 framework. The protagonist who masters True Voice speaks at substrate-frequency that cuts through deception, vril-corruption, and antagonist-family mind-influence.

Integrity-band §5F ambient detection applies during dialogue per §5F.3 hostile substrate detection mechanic. The protagonist registers nearby substrate-state of dialogue partners through Crown-bonded plus Third-Eye-bonded ambient response — NPCs operating under antagonist-family substrate-influence, vril-corrupted dialogue partners, and substrate-state-aligned allies all register ambient-passively at canonical-magnitude detection. The detection surfaces as substrate-perception flicker rather than HUD alert, requiring the perceptive player to register the canonical signal and respond in dialogue-time.

Truth Speak surfaces as a canonical dialogue-class ability framework distinct from True Voice. Where True Voice is a Tier 7 Adeptus Major L1-locked ability with canonical mastery prerequisites, Truth Speak operates at canonical lower tiers as integrity-band-modulated dialogue option availability. The L1 Truly Good protagonist receives canonical Truth-Speak dialogue options across all dialogue exchanges — direct truth-statements that cannot be lied through, even at low ability mastery. The L2 Good Enough protagonist receives canonical Truth-Speak options across most dialogue exchanges. The L3 Drifting protagonist receives Truth-Speak options at sigma-constrained probability per the canonical balance-locked dialogue framing. The L4 Evil and L5 Pure Evil protagonist do not receive Truth-Speak options — the canonical predation-track does not access the canonical compassion-substrate that Truth Speak requires per the canonical alignment discipline.

Dialogue outcome modulation through ability-class casting during dialogue exchange. The protagonist may cast specific abilities during canonical dialogue beats with canonical NPC-response consequence. Vril Sight at Tier 6 Adeptus Minor substrate-perception threshold reveals dialogue partner substrate-inscription during the conversation, surfacing canonical past-substrate context that modulates protagonist dialogue-option availability per the revealed information. Intent Reading at Tier 5 Philosophus passive surfaces dialogue partner emotional state plus current-intention vector, enabling the protagonist to navigate dialogue-tree branches with canonical substrate-perception-informed precision. Probability Sight at Tier 5 Philosophus L3 Drifting balance-locked reveals dialogue branching probabilities approximately one-second before NPC response, enabling canonical balance-track strategic dialogue navigation.

Per-NPC dialogue-impact response specifications, conversation-tree branching architecture, and dialogue substrate-state numerical thresholds defer to T2 ChapterDesign briefs at per-chapter authoring scope plus T1\_Combat\_System\_Spec at Phase 5H ratification scope for ability-cast-during-dialogue mechanic detail. The §16.3 framework establishes canonical dialogue impact architecture; per-conversation specification lands at chapter design briefs.
